Anonymous Person Just Put $8,000 into This Animal Shelter’s Donation Box

On Wednesday, staff at the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA were shocked when they saw that moments ago a mysterious visitor put a wad of twenties into the animal shelter’s donation box with a sum total of $8,000. No one noticed the anonymous donor, and no one knows who the person is, but one thing is known for sure – for the animal shelter that cares for some 12,000 animals every year, this is nothing short of a miracle.

”We are overjoyed by the generosity of this anonymous donation” a staff member told The Dodo. ‘We are incredibly grateful and extend a huge thank you to the mystery donor.’

The donation will go to cover the costs of animal care. While the donation was huge, animal shelter staff remind us that every dollar counts and encourage to donate to the cause of our four-legged friends.

It's ALWAYS "ok" to spend money on good things. It's not like this donor stole money from a food bank in order to save the animals. My goodness.

Might have been someone who left it in their will for the sanctuary and their relative thought it would be better to hand it over in cash, rather than through something that might have been tax deducted? just a thought :)

It's okay to be an anonymous hero. Not everyone wants to go viral. If the donor wanted to do it quietly, then they should just let it be and then try to pass it on in their own lives.

It's not quite 8 grand in cash, but when the small local shelter where I adopted my cat puts out the call for kitty litter, I like to order in bulk and deliver it to the shelter. Last donation was 1,000 pounds, and it's amazing how fast those little kitties go through that amount.

This wonderful person probably can't have a pet of their own so this is their way of contributing. A great thing to do.

This wonderful person must have had a rescue pet at some stage and what an incredibly generous gift. Thinking of all those screamingly wealthy people out there - I wonder if they would ever think to match this gift, or for that matter give money to animal charities at all? Perhaps a lot do, obviously we don't know, but I am sure many more could if they just thought about it. To all those who have given, you are blessed.

At the time that when children are still dying of malnutrition and lack of medicine in trouble spots around the world...people still think it's OK to spend millions on "cute" animals they bred, bought and then dumped for the sake of whimsical consumers. Ask yourself this: How would you feel if your own child was near death from lack of food or medicine and you read this story (cute and heartwarming as it is)?
