74-Year-Old Grandpa Accidentally Calls The Wrong Person, But Still Ends Up Receiving Help
The quarantine we’re currently experiencing due to the rapid spread of COVID-19 is certainly a traumatic experience for many. And while some rely on books and movies to escape the horror of our reality, some people not only find an escape, but also a way to connect through social media. One 74-year-old recently found himself in a bit of a pickle when he couldn’t set up his brand new cell phone to work. Unable to go out and get assistance, the old man decided to use a landline and contact his son, Bobby. Accidentally, he phoned a complete stranger instead, but that was just the beginning of a wholesome story.
Twitter user Tim recently shared a thread on the social media site, detailing this interaction with the 74-year-old. Fortunately, when he received the call from a total stranger, he decided to help him out. After all, these are trying times for all of us and we could all use some kindness and help.

Share on FacebookAnyone else having problems like this with their parents though? Like you keep telling them to stay in the house and these m**o's are like naaaaaaaaaah. My dad has gastric cancer and he keeps wanting to go to Home Depot. Obviously under no circumstances am I going to allow that. It is like talking to a toddler, but harder to keep them from leaving the house.
I wish I still had parents to wrangle into staying home but, since I don't, I'll tell y'all a secret: HIDE THEIR FREAKIN' CAR KEYS. No, srsly, HIDE. THEM. When they complain about not being able to find them, well, it must be fate tryin'a keep their collective asses safe, then, right? Right.
Yeah, my parents don't stay inside either. They NEED to do grocery shopping every f*cking day! I tell them we'll get everything they need, but nooooo, they NEED to. My dad's 76 and had pneumonia several times in the past years, my mom is 70 and has had open heart surgery to get a new, mechanic heart valve a decade ago, and is on anticoagulants. They're both high risk, but god forbid they can't go grocery shopping every day. They're idiots.
I'm sorry. They are used to being tough and independent, but this is life and death.
Load More Replies...Hahaha I love this! And I would definitely take him up on the drinks, dominoes, and s*** talk. Sounds fun! 😄
Good man. I'm useless too so would really appre iate this happening to me.
Old people are adorable in their own ways. Mostly when they wanted to be in touch with our technology now. Kudos to the man for being patient and not dropping the call.
I have the opposite problem. I'm not sure my mom is ever going to leave her apartment again. She has left 5 times since the beginning of March. Twice for the doctors, twice for picking up food (Easter and her anniversary and those times she didn't even leave the car), and to go pick up her stuff from work.
Is that not what she's supposed to do, limit time out of the house where possible?
Load More Replies...That is too funny. I was thinking this was gonna be another sweet sappy story. I WAS SO WRONG. this was amazing lmao. I don't think the Grandkids of Bill Gates ever had to help him with his devices problems. I would want to see that. Saturday Night Live should do a skit about Bill Gates' grandkids helping him with his computer XD
I think it’s nice what he did, of course. But why is important to mention that the older man is black?
Because it can be a way to provide cultural context and a socially identifiable point of relationship.
