Someone Asks ER Doctors What Are The Most Amazing Things They Have Seen, And This Answer Wins
Doctors see pretty messed up stuff on a daily basis. Injuries, gruesome and fatal, are their reality. But they witness beautiful things as well. Recently, someone on Quora asked “What is the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen as an ER doctor?” and oh Hippocrates did they deliver. One answer, however, stood above the rest. Germany-based psychiatrist Mikka Luster shared a story about the time he witnessed a menacing gang of bikers befriending a tiny 6-year-old and it will remind you to not judge a book by its cover. “I have been in Emergency Medicine for a total of 12 years now,” doctor Luster told Bored Panda. I am the psychiatrist, so I get to wear street clothes rather than scrubs, I do odds and ends for most anyone, from dealing with family and patients in traumatic events to drug, alcohol, and psychiatric emergencies (acute psychosis, etc.) and with law enforcement in cases where an arrest has to be made and the mental state of the arrestee is to be determined. So my days are “boredom interrupted by massive stress” on good days, “stress all day” on not so good ones.”
“[The bikers] were members of a known MC that deals in a lot of, shall we say, shady things. Since this is a bigger MC and each chapter seems to be different, I don’t know if that chapter was involved in whichever trade one would presume 1-percenters to be in. It’s totally possible for them to be law abiding citizens who just ride bikes and are a chapter of an MC that does stuff you and I wouldn’t want to be involved in [elsewhere].”

People said a lot of things about the story
I have learned in my life that most people are good and kind-hearted in every aspect of life, just few shits are out there earning a bad name for everyone else.
And even most bad people aren't entirely bad. A lot of people involved with crimes are so because they had no choice, and they're generally really nice to anyone they have no reason to hate on.
Load More Replies...I send my praise to those guys for taking care of that fragile little child. They're like real life super heroes. I hope she is fine. I can't help thinking of the animated series Erased. The cartoon addressed the problem of child abuse and how it takes the whole community and maximum caution to get an abused kid out of trouble.
Biker myself and what still surprise me after all these years behind the handle bar is that if you are a biker and also got some visible tattoos on the body you nearly all the time must be some form of bad human in this society. But usually when Fonzie Bulldog rides along with me those nice weather days people often tend to relax and even smile. Every giant biker I have ever met has been a sweet teddy bear underneath all that leather, I even had one very massive man melt into a gooey puddle when he met my kitten that my husband and I were walking. After he cuddled my cat, he pulled put his phone to show me his cats. I also had an amazing experience with one who saw my husband(well he was my boyfriend at the time ) and I shortly after my husband had broken his neck in a car accident , at the time my husband was a kid of barely 20 and walking around in a halo was embarrassing for him, this giant man who was fixing his bike in a parking lot called out to us , he asked what had happened, and we told him about the car accident, he smiled nodded then lifted his bandana and showed us his scars, saying "I've done that twice myself". He spent a good hour chatting with us and made my husband feel a lot better about a very temporary situation. Those big guys are human, and usually are good people.
That's biker gangs to you. Nice as long as you don't cross them or someone they care about. This was kind of a heartwarming story and I'm glad the little girl got some protection. I'm still wondering where the CPS was in all of this and if they were ever even called.
Wow...that sounds like me...and I’m a hot hatch person! Then again, I’m too old to put up with b******t and no one generally crosses me...twice.

The only way I could describe them is oldest biker gang lol they were huge and scary looking. We told them my sister was missing and they spent an hour helping us look for my little sister. (We eventually found her she got lost and went to the car) the guys were really nice and offered to buy my sister a milkshake.
This story reminds me of a group of bikers that where handing out flyers in my hoe town a while ago. I noticed and took a flyer since this is not something typically done by bikers. Turns out they were from BACA (Bikers Against ChildAbuse), an international organisation of bikers who protect abused children in various (non-violent) ways. https://bacaworld.org/
Bikers can be some of the best people in the world. My dad worked at the printing presses with many huge, hairy guys, but when he retired, they threw him the biggest, best retirement party ever at the biker bar. Don't judge books by their covers, please!
For all those with questions about CPS and why a Psych is "handling" with a stab wound follow the link at the top of the article, the original commenter has updated the story with answers to both those questions.
These guys frequently escort children to court who may be facing an abuser.
Reminds me of my fencing coach. He’s this huge, intimidating east European guy, and in the beginning he scared me a little, but when he began giving me lessons I found out he’s one of the nicest people I know
I'm glad for the little girl. And this story prooves our world is not just black or white. No one is only a good or a bad person. I have another story about bikers. The sister of a friend of mine took her dog for a walk in the park near to a small lake. It was spring, quite cold, no one was around and it started to get dark. Suddenly she saw two brutal looking men walking straight towards her. They had a huge Rottweiler with them. She started to think this would be her last day on earth when one of the guys came over holding something in his hands. When she was about to panic the guy asked her if she had seen or heard a duck nearby. She was utterly confused until he opened his hands and showed her a little duckling which he had been keeping warm with his massive hands. Turned out their dog found it a little while ago and they where looking for the mother. They later brought the little ball of fluff to a nearby vet. Well, tough on the outside, soft on the inside. :)
I hope this girl was pulled from the home and put into a safe foster care home. I grew up in a very abusive home and my dad had an addiction to prescribed meds. In those days (60's and 70's) people just looked the other way. Children were not protected. Today, social workers are so overworked though. It has to be heartbreaking to be a doctor, social worker, teacher, etc and see children being abused.
This makes me think of the honor gaurd, whenever a vet dies they have a whole biker convey decked with American flags and such escort the casket and attend the funeral. It's really touching, they also do all sorts of benefits for kids like toys for tots and stuff. I still wouldn't recommend knocking over their bikes a la Pee Wee Herman!
The LavaAxe comment annoys me, having to have a talk with a teacher about not doing something about obvious bullying is needed. Just because it was in quotes does not mean they did anything really threatening, but just sat them down and told them it was not acceptable, because it isn't and no one can say that a 6 year old who is obviously living a hard life is not something a teacher should notice and act on, and bullies are always known in the school. Biker or not, just my Mum alone would have scared that teacher into retirement and she is just a little Irish lady :P
I could not agree more. Lava's comment really irked me too. Having a conversation with a negligent teacher is completely acceptable. Her parents sure as hell weren't going to stand up for her, so someone else did. She's fvcking six years old, she deserves the world, not what she had. My mom would have thrown down and asserted herself till the teacher truly understood that my mom knows the law and will destroy her so someone else can do the job she was hired to do. I think our moms would get along
Load More Replies...I used to be friends with the local bikers that hung out in this bar my mom worked in when I was a teen. But scary dudes. Lotta tats. But I was super into bikes. Since my mom was typically my ride home from the library during the summer. I'd sit outside with a big a*s bag of books and just read. But like I'd often catch myself looking at the bikes. One day one of the guys comes outside and starts smoking. Sees that I'm struggling through a book. No idea really why I was reading it aloud. But like he really got into the book. Often he'd just give me a ride while mom would be at shift for long periods of time. Learned how to fix a bike. Long as I kept reading.
I'm at work and crying now... these men will NEVER stand for this. They may deal with illicit activities, but they actually do a lot of good as well.
A great story, my thought is if the teacher was HALF HUMAN she would have called authorities seeing the condition daily of that little girl, perhaps she would have been taken from her disgusting mother, I hope her guardian angel keeps a close eye on her, I pray !!!
That just shows, guardian angels come in all shapes and kinds. I hope the little doll does well in her life and it gets easier for her. And if not, I hope they have a "nice talk" with anyone who hurts her again.
One of the best stories ever... The best way to say "Do not judge a book by its cover". Faith in humanity improved...
We just moved house, and I found out the new neighbour was a biker, sound, salt of the earth, I've never met a Biker who was a wrong un.
People probably know this, but there is a biker group in, I think it is, Arizona, who protect children who have been abused. They go to court with them so the kid won't be afraid of the abuser. They will escort the child to school, and even stand guard around the house. Don't judge a book by it's cover, as they say. And the teacher in this story deserves, in my opinion, to be threatened for letting they bullying go on.
Wow. A true lesson in to never judge a book by it's cover. The bigger they are, the bigger the softy they usually are. Thanks guys, for looking after this little girl.
I think the bottom line is that it doesn't matter what you look like, if deep down you are a decent human you will stick up for those who can't do it for themselves. God bless these biker clubs that will help children when so many others look away. If they have to "have a nice talk" with someone to get their point across and make that person do their job, more power to them.
I live in Canada, Hell's Angels are considered to be pretty scary individuals around here, but, a few Christmas's ago a chapter of them in Ontario went to a Canadian Tire (Sporting goods/hunting/outdoors stuff) and cleaned out the kids bicycle section. They purchased EVERY kids bike in the store, & then donated them to the local womens shelter. Everyone loses their minds about stereotypes, but throws this one around like its nothing, its stupid. There is a group of bikers here in Canada (and I think in the US as well) that are ex-cops & stuff (scary lookin dudes) and they actually PROTECT CHILDREN when they are in court for their abusers. They stay at their homes, they go to the court proceedings, and they even set the kid up with one of them & they check in with them regularly until they turn 19.
Soooo did someone delete my comment, or am I just too drunk to find it ? not cool BP
You being the guy from Psych and all I somehow wish your part in this story hadn't just ended abruptly in the middle but after having called child protection services and having someone professional deal with the situation. Chances are, those teddy bears aren't trained to do therapy with traumatized kids. Not happy about the threatening either, the poor little girl seems to be surrounded by violence one way or the other.
No, it’s not politically correct to handle situations the way this account insinuates but that’s the problem- being politically correct and side-stepping possible offense and litigation has castrated the law. Sometimes outlaws have to come to the rescue because fear is the only deterrent some people understand.
I am seriously balling my eyes out at work (as usual). I have had the wonderful fortune in my life to meet guys like this. They are just very real.
I'd rather have a biker stop to help me with a flat than most "Christians". They totally believe in "Live and Let Live".
Unfortunately, social services has, for the past few years, been encouraged to keep children with their families at all costs. We know who ends up paying those costs. I'm not uncomfortable with them talking to the teacher at all. Teachers can avoid hassles with parents, students and the administrators by ignoring bullying. And sometimes teachers get annoyed with the bullied child's weakness and have no problem watching the child get tormented.
Love that they went to school and gave some lessons to the bullies and the f*****g teacher, who let that s**t happen!
A lot of people who are bears on the outside are bunnies on the inside. I've heard of biker-type dudes who are unashamed Bronies.
Why does this story seem kinda like a fairy tale? No CPS called? So the child returned home to those bottom feeders? Druggies are not intimidated by anyone so I don't buy the story. Sorry, but I have worked with addicts and a burly man is not gonna change the situation. That child should have never been sent home to them. I wonder how she turned out in life? Once again I don't buy this story and the fairy tale ending.
Still a Criminal organization who just happens to care about children, not unusual.
