I Want To Show What True Love Looks Like By Photographing A Couple That Has Been Married For 55 Years
Dorothy and Wayne have been married for 55 years and together for 57. And their love has only grown stronger. Wayne first saw Dorothy in a pub and the moment he set his eyes on her, he knew she was the one!
“I saw Dorothy dancing with her girlfriend down the end of the hall and I mentioned to my friend who was with me, ‘That’s the girl I’m going to marry.’ And 57 years later… we have weathered every single storm together and are still as good as new,” said Wayne.
So to chronicle their undying love, I traveled all the way from the UK to Perth, Australia with this stunning wedding gown and suit, custom made by the amazing Abigail’s Collection & The Groom’s Room, and spent two beautiful hours by the Indian Ocean photographing these two magical souls.
When Dorothy came out of the changing room in this wedding gown Wayne’s eyes lit up like 1000 fairy lights and he said: “I’m glad I’m taking this woman home tonight.” It was just magical, honestly.
But then, the very moment they sat down by the shore, waves came upon them with such gusto that they were drenched to the last grain in their bodies with saline water, and yet they wouldn’t stop laughing, it was truly magical to see them together. I swear, I went nuts apologizing. I swear I haven’t said “I’m sorry” so many times in a minute as I did that day.
But Wayne just casually smiled while kissing Dorothy’s soaked cheeks and said “Oh, no worries. I could do this all day.” Here’s to knowing true love does exist.

Share on FacebookThese are impressive, and the story behind them even more so. My grandparents showed me what True Love looked like, they were each other's 3rd spouse, but the love that those two shared was something that was amazing. I remember they were having an argument one time when Grandma's Alzheimer's was getting bad, and she asked him why he didn't just dump her in a home and leave. He told her 'I said till death do us part and I meant it'. He passed a few years ago, I miss that man so much. They were married for 33 years before his death.
beautiful photos. they both look amazing. and such a long time together! i hope you stay together for the rest of your lifes
Fell in love with my wife the first time I saw her 58 years ago. We were married in Toronto 55 years ago yesterday (May 22, 1965). I'd do it all over again if I had the opportunity. Spent a quiet anniversary due to Covid and social distancing.
I want to wish you both happy anniversary and lots of years to come being together!

Awwww...My wife said that this will be us in 34 years....Except I won't have a nice, full mane of silver hair like this guy has. But that's ok.I think she likes it better shaved off as slick as a peeled onion anyway. I couldn't have found a better friend, lover and partner to spend my life with. I'm a lucky man, and definitely married up. Love you bunches lil sweety.
Absolutely Beautiful and to have that kind of Love is what Everyone or Most Everyone looks for in a Life Time. Here is a really good one. Go to You Tube and look for Meet Jess, The Love of a Lifetime | My Last Days Bring the tissues. It will be the most Tearful video you will ever watch; to me this video is the most Beautiful Expression of Love I have ever seen. This kind of love would help anyone deal with whatever you could ever deal with. A very rare love indeed.
That is so impressive. My husband and I are on year 27 and it hasn't always been easy, but it has always been rewarding and loving.
I'm so glad to know that it's still out there and if I never find it with someone, I'll be alright because I knew my Aunt Alice & my Uncle Mickey! They could make the coldest, most heartless person believe in true love! It was the warmest, most joyous, completely heartwarming thing for anyone to ever see! My Uncle Mickey was the closest example of the Perfect Man this world will ever see, & I'm convinced that there isn't a More Perfect wife, mother, or aunt than my Aunt Alice! They would make Ward & June Cleaver look bad! My Uncle Mickey was one of those men that other men looked up to & women just wanted to be around! He could sell snow to the Eskimos & it was natural & honest. There might have been 1000 men, born in 1920 in Donegal Ireland along with him that didn't get an oz. of charm because he got it all!!!! No joke!
I have seen this over and over again, and I just think they are the Most Beautiful Photos of True Love and it can be at any age. Still for me to see this couple brings tears to my eyes, each and every time because I have never known this kind of love and never will. It is a love that I use to believe only happened in Fairy tales and yet this isn't true because you see it here, in these photos. Every man and every woman should have a love like this at least once in their life, not matter how long it lasted. I just love to look at their eyes and see how they feel about each other. To live and then die without this love is the saddest thing anyone could experience. Because this is what Love is all About, it is Precious and oh so Beautiful as these two are. My wish for everyone is to find this kind of Love and to cherish it forever.
This is exactly what I had envisioned when I married, and often I would tell my wife about it (she would agree) and point out at random elderly couples in the street being tender and lovely together, saying "this is us 40 years on from now". Sadly, she ran away after 3.5 years into marriage and 5 years total in our relationship. Although severely brokenhearted and depressed, it warms my heart a lot that some lovely couples still are totally in love with each other. God bless their hearts and may they be in love together for eternity!
Kerri Russ, my hubs and I will be celebrating 28 years this coming November! We have had some real earthquakes, but you learn when and how to fight, when and how to love, and you do what you need to, to always make it better. Never let even family. One between you, because they may be family, but your spouse is the keeper of your heart and your love, and to be safe, and there, you must stand together. Even when you are apart.
Tanya K, loves ages, but it also evolves with that aging, and you learn the measure of another's' soul and heart, that is the beauty of love, expressed in so many different ways!
In my minds eye, I can picture them as they were when they first met! The love in their eyes now, transcends time, and their ease and intimacy of movement with each other, speaks of the nearly 60 years they have had, to learn each other's bodies. Sexual and not. They are beautiful! How special, to have a glimpse into their life and love! Thank you.
