Artist Continues To Transform Strangers Into Pixar-Like Cartoons, And The Result Is Pretty Amazing
173Kviews
Did you ever wish to have your star moment in a blockbuster? How about an animated hit? Lance Phan is a gifted digital artist who makes strangers’ childhood dreams come true by transforming them into awesome cartoon characters that look like they stepped out from a new Pixar or Disney film.
Lance has an inarguably incredible set of skills, but the magic of his work lies in the details that give animated characters a real and charming personality. His character designs perfectly resemble the human subjects and whole fantastic animated worlds around them that could serve as an inspiration for a new movie script. From a walk in the park to a cute relationship and a wedding photoshoot – his digital drawings are as uniquely diverse as people’s lives are.
Previously featured on Bored Panda, the artist returns with more cool drawings that have gained him 101k followers on Instagram and countless commission requests on his website.

I mean, these two were practically Pixar characters from the beginning.
Ooh the mom looks so villainous :) she'd be the perfect antagonist for a movie with a wonderful redemption arc- affection for her son
Spot on. Waiting to see their “Golden Anniversary” portrait 50 years from now.
Awww they are such an adorable couple or people (if they are not a couple)
This one has the same problem as one of the previous ones. Her smile is just a bit too fake. Her skin also looks sort of plastic. Again, no offense to the creator.
I think that the wide smiles are a struggle for this style. The artist has the mouth shape right but the simplification of the art means that some facial lines have disappeared. I think this also might add to how you saw her skin looking like plastic.
Load More Replies...Such brilliant skill....why all the criticism? These artists are fab...do me, do me! Lol....
The lady doesn't look like she's looking at the camera and guy looks a bit cross eyed
Kids, it pays to learn skills. This artist's rate is 25 USD/hour. He stated in one comment on Fb that he spends 40-60 hours/picture (that seems absolutely fair to me). So the final cost will be around 1000-1500 USD/pic. If you want higher resolution, more angles or 3D that will be an additional fee (also seems fair). In his gallery I can see 42 portraits at the moment. That's around 42.000 - 63.000 USD. If you multiple the working hours we can say that this amount of money is a yearly salary, right? Kids, it pays to learn skills. :) Side note: Good for him and everyone who can afford his art. No harm feelings or jealousy by me. My only concern is about the World in general. As a nurse, a doctor, a fireman, a teacher etc. will never earn an amount like this. Life is strange. But that's not this artist's fault. It's just my weird thought about this phenomenon.
I'm sorry Agnes, but your info seems to be inaccurate. It's true that Lance said his rate was $25/hour, but the final price would not be 1000-1500 because he would re-used some of his resources from one piece to create another that would significantly reduce the production time. Therefore, the final price would be around 200-250 for a single person picture and 450 - 500 for a couple picture. He does however have an auction program on his website where people some time lay quite some bids, but there are only 2 slots per month.
That can be true. I had only two information by the artist: - his hourly rate (stated on his website), 25 USD - his statement how long does it take to create a picture (stated on Fb), 40-60 hours So I just multiplied the numbers. He also stated that for the more precised fee customers should send the picture so he can estimate the time of his work based on that. I just used "his numbers", I never asked a price offer. But that doesn't mean, you're wrong. Or I'm right. I just did the math, based on the shared info. :)
If the rate is 25.00 an hour, than most nurses, firemen and definitely doctors can and probably do out earn him? 25.00 an hour at 40 hours a week is less than 60k a year?
Ok, if in the USA nurses, firemen etc. can earn 25 USD/hour, I'm happy! I'm from Central-Europe, here the average salary for a nurse is around 3-4 USD/hour... I have a friend, a doctor who's having three jobs to have around 700 USD/month. He's saving lives. Every day. The majority with health care background moved already to Germany, or other western countries to have a normal salary. But that's another story. Still. To create a truly nice picture, using a computer or fighting for a life, curing desease, always using your brain/heart and having an enormous responsibility seems a bit more complicated and risky job. But as I mentioned earlier, I don't think that this artist (or any artist) doesn't deserve a correct compensation. I just don't get the system in general.
Firemen get overtime, as do nurses
Depends on the country where he's living.
@Agnes Pethes, if nurses are not being paid well in Europe, please allow them to come to the US, they are in such demand there that they are willing to pay more than $25/hr easily. Have them send the money back to their families, or bring their families with them, but the US pays that kind of money because the people need those kinds of skills.
it pays to learn engineering, $25 an hour is a shit rate of pay, dont forget tax you pay on that. Learn how to wire a plug and make a shit load more money and have useful life skills

There are basketball and football players that make much more than this artist does, and they provide nothing to society as a whole. An artist who is able to make this kind of money deserves it considering the amount of time it took to get to this point. I know doctors who make 10 to 100 times more money that this, all because they worked for the skills they have, just as this artist did. But no Nurse, or fireman, teacher, soldier or what not will make this kind of money because they are not training rarefied skills to this level.
Oic tq so much for your info.. 😘👍
you mean he just makes them more attractive
Was thinking the same. If you don't feel so good about your physical appearance, just contact this guy apparently. ;)
Nope, WAY too much uncanny valley
I agree.
Great work, but too realistic to be Pixar. Why don't they just classify it as CGI?
Yeah they definitely look more like CGI than Pixar style
I love this and I want one!
Fairly innocuous dream to have
Amazing!
artist transforms common people to cartoon, result is pretty people
This is great!! They look so real!!!
This is absolutely awesome!!!
This is awesome :D
I realize the guy's talented but if you dilate your eyes and slather on some pancake makeup you'd get pretty close to the same effect.
Sorry but they look cold and plastic to me. Plus, why do the signatures have to be so big and intrusive and right in the middle of the picture? Even the great masters signed discreetly at the bottom of the canvass.
artist turns people to cartoon result is pretty people
Hmmm... Maybe if I add something and make it movie poster style, it would be an awesome thing to hang on the wall.
The 3rd cutest thing I've started my day with..
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn
Great work. Love it
a very good way to waste time while making money, but ultimately sad and pointless
Sounds like something... oh, your life!
Hahaha!
ohh sick burn molly, ill go away and rethink my opinions or crappy art
