Someone Peeled Off 30 Years Of Graffiti, And Here’s What They Found Underneath
Ever wondered what hides under that final coat of paint on a wall filled with graffiti? How about a wall that was painted over and over for 30 years? Well, you’re about to get your answer.
Imgur user PaulDeGraaf has uploaded his detailed analysis of a segment he peeled off of a Graffiti Hall of Fame called “Doornroosje” in the city of Nijmegen, the Netherlands. “What started as a 70’s Hippie cult place, became a center of music and art in the early 80’s,” PaulDeGraaf writes. “One of the first places where it was legal to smoke cannabis. It still a Music studio and Graffiti Hall of Fame. The building is surrounded by walls that are all spray painted from top to bottom.”
Scroll below to uncover what does 30 years worth of graffiti looks like when smooshed into a single stack of layers.

‘When you take a closer look, you’ll get a layered timeline of 30 years, just like a tree but made out of a spray can paint’
Here’s a graffiti timeline

Load More Replies...So he damaged the grafitti for just a few clicks on bored panda? Congratulations.
That's exactly what I was thinking! Fordite is awesome stuff. Too bad this paint is significantly softer.
Load More Replies...I think they should have left the graffiti alone.. it's not a good thing but it look nice..
It's a shame all the decent graffiti in the uk are covered in "*name* luvs *name* 4eva"
Tagging over the top of decent graffiti is disgusting. Why ruin such beautiful work with such ugly vandalism? So disrespectful to the artist
Load More Replies...So,paint builds up in layers, who knew?Pretty pointless article really.
It's interesting that a number of artists chose to use brush paint instead of spray paint (the thicker layers)
the artists often use brush paint as base coat to have a unicoloured backround without the "disturbing" piece below .
Load More Replies...In Vienna there are some legal walls where graffiti artists have been spraying for decades and the walls already come off at some points through wind, rain etc. I make jewelry out of it... Check out BIRDLY AT if you´re interested ;-)

There is actually a "stone" called Fordite that sells for a pretty high price. It's made of layers of paint that have built up over the years in a Ford manufacturing plant!
Have seen a piece with a thickness of several inches once. It was from a spray booth. I'd love to see art made from this. Like bowls or figures.
On the up side, that building will never leak, and the bricks are preserved for eternity.
THIS Could be potential future history for the generations to come. wHy ruin it
That really cool people actually really take pride of what they do ...and grafiti its not just a quick tag no more ...way the go u child of art 🤘👊
