If you’re a Redditor, you may have been one of the 34,000 plus users who upvoted the pic of a Death Star fire pit. For Christmas 2014, Jennifer Allison had asked her grandfather to make her a Death Star fire pit. He had already been making some fire pits for friends and family when Jennifer asked him to make the Death Star one. She reveals on her Etsy About Page: “I asked him to make us one that looks like the Death Star, which he had no idea what that was. I sent him pictures and he and an artist decided on a design, and made it for me.”

Her grandfather, 87-year-old Kenneth Triplett (aka “Paw Paw”), is a retired welder and Marine veteran of the Korean War. After Jennifer’s Reddit post featuring a photo of her Paw Paw’s Death Star fire pit gained over 34,000 upvotes, she asked him if he’d like to start selling them. Being more internet savvy than her grandfather, Jennifer helped him to open up an Etsy shop called KGFirePits.

Jennifer takes care of the customer service and marketing of her grandfather’s awesome fire pits, and in turn, her Paw Paw gives a portion of each sale back to the grandkids to help with college costs.
