When it comes to body shaming plus-sized people, we should all take an example from Sara Petty - the girl who doesn't care what mean people say about her body image.
After noticing lots of tweets (not to her directly) saying that the beauty standards do not allow women over 200 pounds or those with curvy bodies to wear some clothes, Petty decided to make a statement and do the exact opposite. Even though body-shamers said women over 200 pounds shouldn't wear any revealing clothes, including leggings, crop tops, bikinis, and booty shorts, Petty wore is all and tweeted pics with the caption: "Girls: Wear whatever the hell you want." And you know what? She looked freakin' beautiful in every single outfit! Petty's tweet has gone viral since with over 119k likes, 103k retweets, and tons of people sending messages of support, and thanks for sharing some body positivity.

Numbers don't mean a thing! I always tried to starve myself when I was young because I heard that a certain number was ideal for my height. It was not attainable for me because of my bone structure & muscle mass. I didn't know it then, but at what I thought was really heavy I was actually very underweight. Weight never takes into account body composition. I honestly didn't look good at the lower weight I starved myself to but I still wanted to go lower because of the twisted mindset I had. Our bodies change so much even in to young adulthood though that we need to worry more about nurturing them & building muscle so that they can grow, rather than about an arbitrary number on a scale. I suffered nutritional defficiencies back then that affect me to this day & I also suffered from a lot of bone weakness & stunted growth. I could be taller & stronger today if I took better care of my self when I was young.

I'm not sure of the battery commercial comment is a joke or not, but it is funny and definitely a viable theory, considering how many overt adds are on the page and that like all the posters battery levels are low... or at least more than a one... Ok people. I'm all for the "wear whatever the hell you want" attitude, but let's face two truths here. First, not all people over 200 pounds (or 90+ kg) have the extra fat stored equally in their whole body and second, not all people look good in every piece of clothing.
Sooo... it's generalizing to say every 200+ pound woman shouldn't wear a particular piece of clothing. But you're partially right. I do envy people who know exactly what kind/shape/color clothing fits their body. I've personally weighed over 200lbs all my life, I do think there are limits to what should be worn in public. If it's not covering you or every body bump can be seen, it's not appropriate. Booty shorts and crop tops aren't really appropriate for anyone in public settings. If you wouldn't wear it to meet your grandparents for dinner, please don't wear it out for everyone else to see. Confident is beautiful but there's better ways to show it off than to dress provocatively.

Weight isn't even relevant when saying how "fat" or "skinny" a person is, not that it even matters. You can be very fit and weigh a lot due to muscle mass or height. I'm a tween and I weigh around nineteen pounds more than the average person my age, and it's not because of fat. It's because I'm about seven or eight inches taller than the average. It doesn't mean I'm fat, just tall. (I'd mention muscle, but in this scenario, muscle mass isn't the reason, lol.)

While it is true that overall weight can affect how you look in certain clothes, I believe that weight distribution and proportion plays a larger role. Sara Petty doesn't look 200lb, I've seen girls less than that look worse than her in those outfits. This is because her body fat is fairly evenly distributed around her body but it is in the obvious places a woman would have fat. Therefore, in her case, she can get away with wearing leggings and booty shorts because her butt is not holding the majority of her body fat. If your body fat is concentrated in your behind then maybe booty shorts and leggings shouldn't be worn. But this girl can get away with it. As for bikinis and crop tops, in her case she looks ok in a bikini for a girl of her size and weight distribution as it is even. The problem would be when she sat down for obvious reasons. But if you are comfortable with this then who can argue with you. As for crop tops I would say no but overall she looks great for a girl like her

In 1987 I had aneorexia bulimia.. :( I seriously thought i was fat!!! I tried to swap jeans with girlfriends.. I was called very aweful names thunder thighs, fat ass, i could go on but im sure you can imagine names that would drive a 13-16 yr old girl to starve herself... Mind you the names were not from my friends.. Not being able to put on their clothes told me it was true what others said..... I weighed 135 lbs...I was 5'10 1/2" tall!!!! I needed a DDD cup!!!! Of course my Lee 28\32 arse couldnt fit there 26\26s.... :( i would lay on the bed and do the damn pull the zipper with coat hanger.. Poured in to jeans i should not have been atempting... I couldnt breath.. But breathing like eating was over rated.... I did not see my friends shortness as the issue.. They looked fantastic in thouse jeans i should too!!!! No... :( I had to be fat like everyone else was saying... ALL my life!!!! I was on the swim team.. I swam constantly.. I would get up at 5:30am to push start my dads truck.
My dads truck was 3/4ton antique military truck.. I had built up massive leggs!! I was legs boobs and butt!!! The rest of me was rack of bones!! I justcouldnt see it!!! My body seems set it per storage mode.. So when I got pregnant and broke the aneroexia bullimea my body has been in storage mode since.. Most of what my body knew from birth till 17 was never know when/ if the next meal.. Thank you main stream media and poor parents before that!!! I wish i couldbe that kinda fat again some times!! Numbers don't mean a thing! I always tried to starve myself when I was young because I heard that a certain number was ideal for my height. It was not attainable for me because of my bone structure & muscle mass. I didn't know it then, but at what I thought was really heavy I was actually very underweight. Weight never takes into account body composition. I honestly didn't look good at the lower weight I starved myself to but I still wanted to go lower because of the twisted mindset I had. Our bodies change so much even in to young adulthood though that we need to worry more about nurturing them & building muscle so that they can grow, rather than about an arbitrary number on a scale. I suffered nutritional defficiencies back then that affect me to this day & I also suffered from a lot of bone weakness & stunted growth. I could be taller & stronger today if I took better care of my self when I was young.

Ok people. I'm all for the "wear whatever the hell you want" attitude, but let's face two truths here. First, not all people over 200 pounds (or 90+ kg) have the extra fat stored equally in their whole body and second, not all people look good in every piece of clothing.

I've personally weighed over 200lbs all my life, I do think there are limits to what should be worn in public. If it's not covering you or every body bump can be seen, it's not appropriate. Booty shorts and crop tops aren't really appropriate for anyone in public settings. If you wouldn't wear it to meet your grandparents for dinner, please don't wear it out for everyone else to see. Confident is beautiful but there's better ways to show it off than to dress provocatively.

I'm a tween and I weigh around nineteen pounds more than the average person my age, and it's not because of fat. It's because I'm about seven or eight inches taller than the average. It doesn't mean I'm fat, just tall. (I'd mention muscle, but in this scenario, muscle mass isn't the reason, lol.)
