The 1970s must have taken place on a different planet. These photos of men’s clothing from that decade leave us drowning in astounding mustard knits, loud patterns, high waists, way-too-skimpy briefs, and other men's fashion faux pas that we don't have enough of imagination to describe 40 years later.
As synthetics fell in price, casual men's style garbs were suddenly available to many fashion-forward young men looking to cut loose. Since polyester doesn’t require ironing, the “wash and wear” revolution is in full view of these models with their skin-tight threads and jumpsuits that leave nothing to the imagination. A 70s fashion Travelknit suit jumps out of the suitcase ready to wear, keeping with the decade’s focus on spontaneity and indulgence.
Scroll down for our pick of the worst 70s men's fashion pieces. And as a final note, don’t look at the prices in the funny ads! You’ll only resent H&M even more!

" Lemme just stand here looking sexy while i hold this Chicken upside down" WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE LOL!! xD
If we weight these knits down with enough rocks we can drown them and no one will ever know!
Pierce Brosnan? George Lopez?!! Didnt expect to see so many celebs in these ads lol
"Treated to stay Sanitized Fresh"??? What does this mean; one needn't launder his underwear?? Just eww.
Mr Raschel knit suspects the Circular knit scoundrels are up to no good again.
Because two big s**t-brown patches on a guy's butt cheeks is what the ladies love!
The kid in the bird shirt is slowly realizing that this photo shoot was a bad idea.
What is it with guys in their underwear at the beach?!? "Hey guys, I just got some new skivvies! Let's go down to the beach and show them off!"
Those days people call this 'Funky', today people call this 'Gay', basically it's all matter of perspective and prejudice
I almost gave this list a thumbs down. But realized how many laughs it gave me. Give it 40 years and we'll be making fun of this current days' fashion trends too.
Aww, I was hoping for a repeat of the "scandalous" late 70's Sears catalogue with the dude who tipped out the bottom of his boxers. "Mom, is this his actual penis or a shadow?" I never saw it again....
I dont remember laughing so hard! Im sure half of these men did a Caitlyn-Jenner today! XD

My dad was a cattle ranch (the definition of rough and tough) he wore one-piece
This post made my day - had it open all day at work and scrolled down a couple of images every time I needed cheering up!
Some of those close was used but some only in movies or actors used them, beside back then the word "gay" meant "happy" and it was used as such, now, well I guess they are happy.......
Some actually were used but some only in movies or actors wore them. Also, the word "gay" meant "happy" back then.....
I wore this stuff. I remember the shirts that were also undies. It was to avoid wrinkles. Oh jesus. It hurts. It hurts. I wore the big a*s shoes. Big a*s sideburns. I even wore...gasp... the poncho.
I grew up in the 70s, and frankly, nowadays it seems another planet.
The guy in #1, wasn't he on an episode of Three's Company wiggling his a*s on a scarf in one of Jack's parties when Mr Roper happened to walk in?
I always knew my brain was actively suppressing memories of the seventies. Now I have a better understanding why.
Don't laugh, fashions always repeat and next year, you too can look like this!
"..OLD IS GOLD.." We shall never have this kind of Ads on Tv's now. Also, From this post, I remember the same Indian 90's Ads post on : http://viralcrow.com/these-rare-old-indian-ads-posters-might-turn-a-reason-for-laughter-for-you/
The good news is that most of us didn't dress like this in the 70s. There were a lot of other fashions that I'd like to forget, but few were this extreme.
Excuse moi but nr3 is mindblowingly amazing. I eant those knitted blouses with knitted belt. Wow. Different era, not my taste but thats an exception
I lived through the 70s - in jeans, t-shirts, hoodies and mocs - essentially what I wear now - no one I know ever wore this c**p - ever - wait - my sister knitted the poncho in #11.
Looking back; I remember wearing bell bottom jeans do not remember any of the rest; Thank God!!! Looks like grandma did a hell of a lot of crocheting,
The great thing about wearing these clothes is that you don't have to tell people that you are gay or even happy.
