A Singaporean city girl through and through, I did not grow up with hiking nor learnt to love it. This is the pictorial narrative of how I stepped out my comfort zone, into the Peruvian Andes and fell in love with the mountains, lakes, avalanches, and even hiking.

Witnessing avalanches are just part of the daily surprises that the Andes hands you while out there

So are lakes for days and as far as the eye can see

Taking panoramic photographs are a piece of cake without any other humans in your pictures

Trying to count how many lakes of different shades of blue there are were just one of the many games we played

Lunch spots do not get better than views like this

Getting up close and personal with glaciers were not a big deal

Taking a bath in this icy lake wasn’t much of a problem with views for days

Never getting tired of the pristine snow capped peaks of the Peruvian Andes

Even this little puffed up bird took a minute to admire the scenery around us

Being on altitude above 4000m everyday left us out of breath, but peaks like this made it all worth it

By Day 8, we were soon running out of names for the different hues of blues we’d seen

Even when it got dark, the Andes did not leave us without something to dream of while we sleep
