We are Mike & Tabi.

For years we’ve had a dream of owning a local coffee shop. Mike began working as a barista & Tabi as a stylist in the film world. After drinking too many mediocre (at best) cups of coffee on set we saw the need to bring these two worlds together…

We’re changing the game in coffee catering…

Last Fall we purchased a 1974 vintage camper from the owners of the MOMA:PS1 restaurant, remnants of an installation called Colony. Our hope is to turn it into a mobile coffee business -named KIN- that will bring great coffee to all kinds of events (hello coffee-themed weddings, parties, and photoshoots!)

The camper currently resides in Gowanus where we have completed 90% of the interior and exterior renovations ourselves, using salvaged and reclaimed materials from places like BIG. All of KIN’s products aim to support the local community and environment.

Or in other words: “INSTEAD OF JUST MAKING A SMALLER IMPRINT WE WANT TO MAKE A POSITIVE ADDITION TO THE WORLD WE LIVE IN.”

If you’re wondering how a camper is going to fit inside NYC’s many small indoor events, don’t worry, we have also built a portable beverage cart with a handmade pour-over station to meet the needs of smaller indoor events.

KIN is fully set-up right now to be 100% off grid. With a solar-powered system and it’s own alkalized water and plumbing. The benefits go beyond just the environmental aspect though. Being off-grid allows either setup of coffee to come to an event ready to go. Less set-up time, and less cost for the event planner.

We are on kickstarter to raise the remaining amount needed to turn our labor of love into a fully functioning mobile coffee shop. You can check out our sweet video by clicking below.
