We Want To Introduce The Funeral Sector To The World Of Contemporary Design.
The last wish of my mother was that I would design and create her coffin. Together with Mark Beerens, we are visual artists, we decided pursue her request within the funeral sector. We founded Beerenberg and hired Michel Smits as our account manager.
During our creative process we discovered that the choice of coffins on the market was very limited. We found that the only coffins generally available were either the basic model or those with a type of foil. Bespoke design did just not exist. This is when we considered how to influence this traditional sector and make funerals personal and light. We discovered a relatively new technique that would make our ideas a reality; full colour printing on wood.
Life’s most beautiful moments captured in a photo, a memorable design or picture, an evocative poem or meaningful words, we can literally design and print anything.
With this printing technique we can create an entirely personal funeral package, printing absolutely everything from the Beerenberg coffin to funeral cards, lecterns, folding screens and even grave memorial plates in
full colour.The more we get involved in this world, the more innovative our products become. We feel that there is a lot of room for change in the funeral sector, which until now, has had a reputation for being traditional
and stale. Beerenberg is at the forefront of a beautiful evolution of design entirely personal funeral.

just a ‘coffin’ but a ‘Beerenberg coffin’. We want to introduce the funeral sector to the world of contemporary design. We are creating a movement that is enabling talented artists to be involved in the aesthetics of a funeral.
