The goal in the project «Sucrerie» (sweets) was to create a powerful surreal image that would combine various elements to unreal proportions. Geneviève Bellehumeur, graphic designer and retoucher, wanted to present a unique way to portray a wedding dress. Why be usual when you can be original?

The project merged the idea of the wedding dress and a delicious ice cream treat, creating a poetic and kind of nostalgic sensation. You can follow the steps of the creation below.

This project would not have been possible without the help and support of : Geneviève Bellehumeur (Concept, Artistic director, retoucher, photo manipulation), Anaïs Faubert (photographer) anaisfaubert-photographe.com, Tammy-Lou Pate (MUA), Melanie Huot-Lavoie (Two horse salon)(Hair), Tania Mélanie Marchildon (Stylist), Shi (Model), Christianne Brunelle (Wedding dress), Dominique Fraser (Retouching mentore).

Details of the project.

You can here view the various images that were used to create the final project. A photo shoot was made to capture the model, the candy floss, the biscuit and glass. The other elements were found in image banks since we found out that the strawberry weren’t fresh enough.

I first put the background in place and gave it a nice pink tone.

Then the model with alternative hands was inserted in the glass.

The strawberry were then added. It was really important to keep the light and shadow of the picture. I also added refraction in the glass for a more realistic impression.

The mint leaves were next. See how all elements merge in one another ? This is really important to have a realistic photomontage.

The final touch ! Coloration, reflections of color, lights and shadows.
