Meet ‘Chimera,’ The Cat Who Has A Unique Face And A Cuddly Personality

Interview With Owner

Cat lovers out there, come closer! We’ve got one cutie pie to share with you.

The purrfect furball comes from Thailand and is stealing everyone’s hearts with her striking two-sided face. Her name is a rather straight-forward one—it’s “Cat.” But the owner has a point: “Cats call themselves cats,” says their Instagram bio. Plus, Cat’s favorite snack is toilet paper, a fact which should hit close to home for many feline owners. And her closest friend is said to be a cockroach, a random choice for friendship, but hey, who am I to judge?!

For those who feel mesmerized by this Thai mouser’s unique look, take a look at the two-faced cats Quimera and Venus that we wrote about some time ago. The cats with double-colored features are thought to be the result of genetic chimerism, a rare natural occurrence whereby an individual is made up of cells from at least two different original eggs.

Bored Panda contacted Cat’s owner Eve from the northeast of Thailand to find out more about this lovely cutie pie. Eve told us that the kitty was born on the 23rd of August back in 2018, and she is now 1 year and 9 months old.

“She is half Persian and half Scottish,” said Eve, but what’s striking about the cat is her split colored face in white and grey. “I think she looks like Harvey Dent from Batman,” laughed the owner.

It turns out, Cat loves hunting cockroaches, so they may not be very close friends after all. “She’s a crazy cat and she loves toilet paper.” Eve said she’s forced to hide the toilet paper supplies ‘cause it makes Cat go absolutely crazy.

The love for toilet paper is so big that her owner said that if Cat could speak, she would most likely say: “My fans, if u love me, send me toilet paper!” Take notes, everyone!

Her entire coat is pretty unique actually, the only thing that would make her More perfect, is if the black on her nose was a perfect split also ;)

A very beautiful cat, but I don't think she's a true chimera. I'd say she's a tortie/tabby with white patches. The white/colour patches on her face have an unusually straight edge, but that can just happen. I had a tuxedo, and one side of her white chest area was edged with straight lines. And if you look closely, there's a little area of cream just visible on the white part of Cat's face, just above the nose leather. The cream is the lighter element in her ginger tabby patches. But as I said, she's very beautiful regardless.

Honestly, it's hard to tell, because she has the smoke gene on the black parts. The "white" parts are actually smoky cream, thus very light colored, almost white (close-ups on her Instagram). Now black and cream are a nonexistent tortoiseshell combination. There are: black+red, cream+grey, cream+chocolate; but no cream and black - unless this is a chimera. There light red parts, too (see on her Instagram), but I think those belong to the smoky black half of the cat, so she is a half smoky tortoiseshell and half smoky cream chimera. But I could be wrong, hard to decide without better quality photos. Sorry for the rant.

That is one beautiful and outrageously adorable cat! Also, I remember reading an article in National Geographic about Venus the "two-faced" cat saying how geneticist were baffled because they did not believe that Venus was a true chimera because of her one blue eye. It was a really fascinating article.

Awww... I can't handle the cuteness! That is definitely the cutest fluff-ball of a cat I ever saw! One thing though, - please take the little bell out of her collar. Those things are extremely stressful for your kitty.

Many cats actively choose to play with toys that have bells in them because they like the sound. Also a significant number of birds are saved because the bell is a warning for them. There is no scientific basis for the claim you are making at all.
