Tv Commercial Shot In A Remote Madagascan Village Using A Local Cast With No Acting Experience.
A young boy and his grandfather wake up every morning before sunrise and go out to fish, but they keep pulling up empty nets. It’s the same for the other villagers, who soon give up. But the grandfather’s perseverance pays off and the boy is taught the benefits of consistency.
It was a challenging shoot, from the four hour boat trip to get to the village (which is far off the tourist map), to working with no electricity and shooting in a cyclone. The entire team lived in the fishing village among the locals for the duration of the shoot, eating local food and sleeping in the village huts. It would have been possible to shoot somewhere more accessible, but the village in Nosy Iranja provided the perfectly authentic location.
