A mother and daughter team in the UK who create jewellery from vintage finds came across this rather unusual necklace, featuring various Nautical Code Flags which reveal a secret hidden message.
It was sold to them as a necklace featuring ‘flags from around the world’. A friend instantly recognize them as nautical code flags and then they noticed that the necklace had repeating flags. Of course, Nautical Code flags all stand for one letter each.
This necklace reads from the right hand side (in Spanish Long Live Spain, Sonia You are my True Love.
Viva Espania- Long Live Spain- Sonie= Sonia, URMTL= You are my true love. (the necklace is missing the R)
How exciting! As this is a Nautical Code necklace we assume that a sailor traveled to Spain in around the 1920’s-1930’s and fell in love with a girl named Sonie. How romantic.
