36 Strange and Funny Google Street View Photos

Montreal based artist Jon Rafman isn’t the original photographer but instead he explores Google Street Views and takes screenshots of the most unusual and funny sights. The original images were taken by an army of Google’s hybrid electric automobiles, each one equipped with nine cameras on a single pole trying to photograph every highway and byway in the world. Here are 36 strangest and funniest Google Street View photos from Jon Rafman’s collection with a couple of our own finds.

Walk of Faith: Glass Pavement for Tourists Built on 4,690ft Mountain in China

I get vertigo just looking at it, but if you have nerves of steel, then you should definitely try out this newly built glass walkway in China, called the Walk of Faith. I hope the glass is as thick as the Popemobile’s because this Glass Plank Road has been added 1,430 metres (4,690ft) up the Zhangjiajie Tianmen mountain. The translucent floor guarantees the tourists some unforgettable sightseeing experiences.

Balancing Fishbowl by Psalt Design

This beautiful “Bubble Tank” that’s about to fall off the table was created by Sheffield-based design studio Psalt Design. Just looking at this fish tank makes me uncomfortable, however it “is resting on its counter-balanced weight” so there’s probably nothing to worry about. Made from premium glass, handblown and slumped by a master glassblower each tank has it’s own unique form and individual characteristics.

They say you are what you eat, and it’s especially true with the translucent ants. Scientist Mohamed Babu from Mysore, India, placed specially colored sugar drops in his garden to attract the weird insects his wife found near the house sipping the spilled milk.

Meet David Cerny – an internationally famous Czech sculptor, best known for his giant space-age babies that crawl up the Zizkov TV tower a hundred meters or so above Prague. He gained notoriety in 1991 by painting a Soviet tank pink that served as a war memorial in central Prague. As the Monument to Soviet tank crews was still a national cultural monument at that time, his act of civil disobedience was considered “hooliganism” and he was briefly arrested.
