In following with the recent trend of creating maps to display interesting information about public perception, a series of maps have been created that use Google search auto-completed queries to indicate what perceptions we hold about different countries and states. All of these maps were created with a process that you could try yourself – find a Google search bar and enter “Why is [insert state or country] so…”

The United Nations have released a powerful series of advertisements advocating for women’s rights around the world. The premise is simple – renowned design firm Ogilvy & Mathers took four women’s portraits and covered their mouths with some of the auto-complete search terms offered by Google’s search engine. These suggested search terms are based on searches done by other users, so they represent convictions held by many who use the search engine.
In addition to having the coolest offices, google gives us the funniest search suggestions.
These suggestions are not only funny, but they can also be very educating, as they tell a lot about us – our biggest fears, concerns and curiosities. Can I eat my cat? Can I swallow sperm? (just some typical questions)
Because google makes suggestion based on searches that occurred most often, these suggestion are not a joke, they are real searches made by people.
