Many of us tend to put animals on a pedestal, admiring them for their effortless grace and beauty and what seems like a certain purity of spirit. However, they are just as prone to mistakes and moments of uncharacteristic stupidity as we are, as this list of 22 herp-derp animals will illustrate. We try not to go around every day making expressions like these, and neither do these animals, but when it comes to photo cameras, they are bound to capture a split-second or two in which you are not quite as photogenic as usual.

This adorable pooch is Duncan Lou Who, a brave boxer dog who lost his two hind legs to a birth deformity. What makes him so inspiring is that fact that he doesn’t let his disability get him down. Jessica Trinh, the talented young pet photographer who we recently wrote about when her golden retriever Chuppy passed away, is back with a beautiful series of images of shelter dogs that will make your heart melt. Pets and people share a very special bond when they grow up together, which is why we’ve compiled a list of pictures of people and their pets growing up and sometimes growing old together. Cats and dogs are cool enough on their own, but just in case you weren’t convinced about this verified fact, here are some famous people with their pets to convince you. Given how most of the pet owners on this list are larger-than-life celebrities, it’s nice to know that even they enjoyed the company of pets just like we do.
