Through the magic of long-exposure photography, Missouri-based photographer Vincent Brady has captured the bright trails of light left behind by fireflies as they perform their nightly dances in the American Midwest. Fireflies have always captured our attention, especially as children, because they seem like stars that have come down to earth. Brady’s photographs, then, transform them into shooting stars.

German artist Evelyn Bracklow has created a beautiful, traditional set of antique-style porcelain called “Chitins Gloss” with an unexpectedly playful twist – it looks like it’s crawling with an army of ants. Fortunately, the ants are fake – each was painstakingly hand-painted by Bracklow to ensure that they look as realistic as possible. It’s a fun but strange work – the seemingly crawling ants contrast heavily with the immaculately and gracefully crafted porcelain.
There’s a lot of amazing recycled/upcycled art out there, but French artist Edouard Martinet stands out with his unique, recognizable style and pain-staking perfectionism and attention to detail. The insects and other critters that he crafts from spare parts look like fantastic creatures out of an alternate retro universe. Martinet collects old spare parts at flea markets and car part sales. He then assembles these parts into beautiful insects and other animals.
