Fruity Self-Portraits by 16-Year-Old Cristina Otero

While many photographers are in the race for the latest gear, 16-year-old Spanish photographer Cristina Otero uses her cheap Canon 1000D and 50mm f1.8 lens to create the most incredible self-portraits. In her series called “Tutti Frutti”, Otero cleverly combines various fruits with bold makeup colors creating some of the most powerful portraits I’ve ever seen. Interestingly, she doesn’t even use any studio lights. All Otero needs is a natural light coming from the window.

Unique Ammonite Washbasin by HighTech Design

This unique washbasin by HighTech Design was inspired by the spiral shape of ammonite shell. In case you didn’t know, Ammonites are an extinct species of free-swimming molluscs who lived in the ancient oceans around the same time that the dinosaurs walked the Earth and disappeared during the same extinction event[1]. Our panda fans from Facebook loved it, but Andre and Darik pointed out that it must be “a pain in the ass to clean”.

People often ask, who is the most beautiful spider in the world?

You are lucky, because I know the answer – it’s the Jumping Spider! (a.k.a Salticidae) I have to admit, I’m being a bit subjective here, because there haven’t been any spider beauty contests yet.

This little spider disprove the stereotype about spiders being ugly and scary (anyone with arachnophobia here?)
