I love to explore the connection between ideas and their complex appearances. In Vietnamese culture, things are not usually just as clear as black and white. The true may being covered under layers of facts. A simple idea might be represented by a different form which may lead people to misunderstanding. Thus, i love to use just simple colors as black and white to present some either complex and simple ideas and/ or thoughts that i have encounter in my life.

The potrait of a perfect lover

I see people dream and think of their love in many different potraits. Even one person will also changes his/ her idea of love during their course of life. So for me, the best potrait of a perfect lover is nothing but an empty space which is waiting for people to input which ever they see fit.

Smoking pipe or a headfull of stuff

I don’t smoke but i like the image of a person with his face and head being covered by smoke of cigarette. In my imagination, sometimes, ideas and thoughts just simply rush over your mind, just like a mist of consciousness is covering all of your senses. I saw smoke as a visual version of those invisible thoughts, instead of stucking inside someone’mind, it just being breathed out and surfacing that person’ reality life.

Love – a gift to offer

Love is pure and it is precious just like a gift that need to be cared by gentle hands. Offering a devoting love like giving a beautifully wrapped gift. I use the symbol of Ginko leaves as that gift is being given by an willing heart.

So, together with Hiding, they will form a couple of hide and seek – a game that some people will play for the rest of their life.

Hiding – Lantern

Under the lantern is always the darkest place.

In Vietnam, we have a phrased “You know one person, you know his face but you will never know his heart”. Together, with the painting ” The portrait of a perfect lover” to form a contradictory couple. They are just like a yin-yang version of each other. As for love, it is a yin and yang of sweat and bitter.
