The one big advantage of being a snail is that you can carry your home on your back, wherever you go. That’s not just a big advantage, that’s a huge advantage when the thunder rolls, the skies open and the rains come pouring down – especially when a raindrop can be almost the same size as you are.
But, as the amazingly talented Russian macro photographer, Vadim Trunov, has discovered, some snails seem to delight in a downpour and revel among the raindrops. I guess you could say that when it rains, they really do seem to come out of their shell.
Instead of tucking themselves away into the comfort of their snug, dry homes or sliding for cover, these curious little guys seem to be extremely happy, exploring their environment and catching up with the neighbours. They even get a chance to play hide-and-seek with their friend, Mr. Grasshopper.
So, next time it rains don’t look up, look down; you never know what you might be missing.
