Not everything in nature is as beautiful or as hilarious as we're mostly used to. It has a dark side, too, and I'll completely understand if this list by Bored Panda forces you to build a pillow-fort in your living room and avoid going outside for a week.

From a mama centipede protecting its babies to a wasp colony building a nest around a discarded doll, these pictures feature some of the scariest things Mother Earth has to offer. Scroll down to test how brave you are, and vote for your favorite entries.

I just hope that the butterfly doesn't have a snake head. Flying snakes, that's what we need.

That's not half-eaten. That little dude is a parasite crab. Some call them "pea-crab". Probably a Pinnotheridae family member.

Once we got a big fish in the nett that had another fish in its mouth who again had a smaller one and the smaller one had a tiny crab. Too bad cameraphones weren't a thing back then so please trust my words.

You can eat those little crabs. they are considered a delicacy. I've had some. Like mini soft shells.

I didn't know mussels ate animals. I thought they were filter feeders.

Interestingly enough, when I spent time in Mass. on Nantucket, you never just popped a mussel in your mouth and chewed. You'd see everyone opening them and removing the tiny crabs from them, first! Mussels aren't supposed to be crunchy!

Mussels don't eat crabs, it was more likely the other way round

I once found a small octopus inside the small shark I was dissecting. I was so excited and then my friend found a half-digested fish that smelled like rotting hell.

This is normal. The mussel is not eating the crab. The crab lives from what the mussle catches.

This would be more a young crab who crawled for shelter into the mussel shell at the moment that the mussel was filtering its own food out of the seawater, micoscropic particles. Mussels are not carnivores.

There is nothing wimpy about a Canadian goose! But size and talons make the difference.
