My name is Nicole Friedersdorf, I am a German costume designer aka DarkDirndl – specialized on the reconstruction of historic gowns and dresses – exactly as seen on paintings, sketches or for real in museums or exhibitions.

In cooperation with Markus Gath, a quite talented and smart photographer, I started the Resurrection Project: reproducing gowns from paintings as they might have been looked for real (color, fabric, details, etc.), finding models quite alike to those in the painting and setting them in scene like on the painting. We want to give our forefathers a real face, bringing people even closer to their history! We just started, below are our first shootings – more to come. Our goal is to work with museums/schools on projects didactically or private citizens wanting to be set in scene like below in reconstructed costumes.
