I‘m no longer surprised to see lawyers do their seemingly effortless pen flips so as to demonstrate the opposing side of how little the situation on the floor intimidates them. What does come as a surprise, though, is learning that the same BIC pen can be used to create realistic art masterpieces in the hands of a lawyer.

Samuel Silva, a 29-year-old Portugal-based attorney, describes his photorealistic drawings merely as a hobby, and BIC Ballpoint Pens – as only one of the mediums in his creative work. It takes time to believe that his beautiful drawings are not actually photographs, and then to absorb the information that they were created using only 8 different-colored pens.

I’m just a lawyer, art is just a hobby for me, although it takes from 5 to 50 hours to finish each realistic drawing,″ says Samuel who started drawing when he was two.

His unique art bears a resemblance to Juan Francisco Casas’ hyper-realistic Ballpoint Pen Drawings from neighboring Spain. Both artists use nothing but regular BIC pens, however, Samuel uses up to 8 colors, whereas Juan settles for blue color.

Below are five of Samuel’s coolest drawings. You can find more on his deviantART page.
