In her ongoing series, “Where the Wild Things Are,” Los Angeles-based photographer Natasha Wilson illuminates the ethereal beauty of wildlife saved from entering the black market.

The black market for wild animals involves the capture and sale of animals with the intention of harboring non-domesticated creatures as domestic animals. Before being sold, animals are imprinted by humans, which means that their natural instincts, such as hunting, are trained out of them, making it impossible for them to survive in nature.

That’s why the California-based wildlife sanctuary Animal Tracks built a shelter for animals that survived the trade.
