We are a team of four university students from Singapore. We’re interested in product design and have designed a lock which can mechanically prevent pickpockets and opportunistic thieves from opening bag compartments with single-slider zippers – the “Peary Lock”.
Conventional locks cannot secure single-slider zippers since they require either a second zip or another anchor point on the bag. Consequently, the items in these compartments are susceptible to theft.
You can attach Peary Lock to the zipper on your bag. When Peary Lock is deployed, it mechanically prevents the zip from moving, thereby preventing pickpockets from accessing that compartment.
We currently have a 3D-printed functional prototype of Peary Lock. We are now seeking market validation and crowdfunding on Kickstarter, so as to further develop Peary Lock into an actual plastic-metal hybrid lock.
