Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, and no body part should be an exception. Yet noses are still picked upon over and over in the beauty industry. No wonder so many of us feel so insecure about it.
But 19-year-old Holly Hopkins got fed up with the so-called “ideal” beauty standards that promote polished side profiles. The truth is, they’re all too rare in real life. “It’s okay if your nose looks like all the 'before' pictures,” she stated in her now-viral tweet that got 169.4K likes. Many more people came forward celebrating their unique noses for what they truly are—totally charming, 100% natural and, and thanks to wise moms and dads, rhinoplasty-free.
Let’s take a look at these beautiful profiles down below that hopefully will serve as an inspiration to others who still secretly dread that one camera angle.

Bored Panda contacted Holly Hopkins, a British criminology student and author of the viral tweet, and asked her about the "nose positive" initiative.
Holly told us that most importantly, everyone has to tell ourselves we’re beautiful. “Even if you struggle doing that, we need to remember we don’t need to be considered ‘beautiful’ in order to be deserving of respect from society,” she said.
The 19-year-old is convinced that “no one analyses your features the way we do to ourselves,” and it’s us who are our own worst critics.
Holly, whose tweet went viral with 15.3K retweets and 169.4K likes, received so many messages from men and women. “Lots of people have thanked me for posting it, but I don’t think I’ve really done anything special.” But she feels grateful to anyone who’s taken the time to message her and everyone who has been kind to people posting their photos under her tweet. “It was so lovely to see so much positivity,” she said.
Unfortunately, Holly still believes that the "ideal" beauty standard exists. “We see it in Hollywood and in the media,” she says, but she thinks that “we’re doing a good job at breaking it down” even if there’s still a lot more we need to do.

I am sorry that someone in your past made you hate your nose. As a short wide blocky lady with a lot of personality and not enough of a filter on my outside voice, it's ok to be different. IT is IMPORTANT to be you. It is VITAL that we learn to love ourselves inside and out. My standard for beauty is not everyone's standard for beauty, so I can not expect myself to be beautiful to everyone who sees me, but I am beautiful to those who think I am beautiful, and loved by all those that matter to me.

I honestly do not understand what is wrong with all those noses. Like normal noses I see everyday on people. If to compare them to "Barbie" nose, then it is dolls nose not normal, not humans.

From a personal point of view I prefer a longer narrow nose to a snub one, I think they are more elegant, and I love the bump on the bridge. It's just a preference thing, these noses all look fine and some of them are gorgeous. I'm starting to wonder if there isn't any part of our bodies were aren't supposed to hate.
As the owner of a "cute" upturned nose, I would take any of these noses instead of my own. I've been called a snob because of my nose ('you must be a snob, look at your nose'). Besides, every one of those women are stunning, beautiful, gorgeous. And their noses enhance that beauty, not detract from it.

It's interesting that so many of these women that are self conscious of their noses, draw attention to them by piercing them. As someone who also has a pierced nose, I wonder what the psychology of it is. I guess if you don't like the way it looks, decorate it! I always hated my nose, for as long as I can remember. After looking at these I just took a profile picture to see what it would look like. I just realised it's actually not that bad...?! An entire part of my complex world of self-hatred and lack of self-confidence just collapsed and I'm not sure how to feel about it.

Both me & my childhood best friend had Italian noses. She got a nosejob and it looked worse than before. I didn't want to alter my face (not to mention I could never tolerate yards of gauze stuffed up my nose) so I kept mine. So glad I did. She went to a very "reputable" plastic surgeon yet he messed up her bridge. Told her she could have it redone for free but who wants to go thru that again? You never know what you may get going that route. I think all the noses I saw here are just fine, I like looking 'exotic' compared to cookie cutter people.
Beautiful women! I don't know why people bully others on the basis of physical appearance. I have been taunted horribly for being skinny all my life. And a few days ago, a relative said to my seven year old that he has misaligned teeth! Like come on, he is seven. He was so, so hurt. I had to emotionally counsel him that we all are perfect just the way we are! And thank you to all the nice people who always support and have only kind words to say.

As a super recogniser, artist and owner of an 'unique' nose: 1) noses are the best features for recognizing a face; it is a massive part of your identity (just ask Jennifer Grey). 2) If I want to make a character I've designed memorable and interesting, I give them a nose with character. Otherwise they are bland and forgettable. 3) For years I considered having a nosejob, but I've finally accepted my nose as part of my heritage. I'll never look dainty and cute - but I'll always look like my family. It's just part of who I am.

I have the typical big Roman nose i got from my Italian Grandad, plus i have broke it 3 times so it's far from perfect, but as a guy, it's probably a lot easier to not give a c**p really. My wife on the other hand, hates her little nose, i think it's a cute little button, she says it's too small for her face, ???yeah i know??

Maybe it stems from the fact that so many women in Hollywood, even those with perfectly fine noses, still end up getting the standard 'Hollywood nose'. Nicole Kidman for example - she was perfectly lovely before her nose job, she's perfectly lovely after but it's like her nose is the same as everyone elses in that place! So many of them have ended up with uniform noses. It makes the 'ideal beauty' an even narrower range than it ever was. Whoever the people are who are telling these already beautiful actors that they need to do this really need locking up in a box. I'm very tired today so probably not explaining myself very well - I just think we need as wide a range of looks in the acting industry as possible so that it might stop some people feeling like they're not good enough.

I came to this blog crying my eyes out, and I'm writing this comment with a yearly smile. I've been insecure about my nose for my whole life, and considered surgery multiple times. Seeing all these beautiful women embrace what society has deemed "ugly" makes me feel like one day I'll be able to show the world my nose and be proud to call it mine ❤
I watch a lot of art videos online to get inspiration and stuff like that and I'm sick of seeing all these artists draw the same teensy little pixie button nose. I guess it's the "trend" nowadays, so I'm rlly proud of these women for embracing who they are and showing off how different and unique yet still beautiful we can all be.
well over half of those were nothing out of usual and others were not very outstanding either. It was funny realising how openly some of those girls simply laughed at others just posting perfectly fine profiles (a few smokinn hotties to my tastes)
I have a big fleshy nose with a bump in it that I hated all through my childhood and teens, always wanted a nose job one day. Then at my 21st my stepmother took a photo of my Dad and me, both in side profile, laughing together and I saw that we're nearly identical. Now I love my big bumpy nose because it's something he gave me.
I'm just seeing a page of normal people with normal noses. Hey, mine is lopsided - it healed crooked after a break because even with x-rays showing a clear break, no one believed that it was broken - and it's not causing an issue so it's fine.
I'd love to have this well defined of a nose. Mine kind of looks like someone threw mashed potatoes at my face and they stuck. No definition and the nostrils look all piggy.
I knew a lad who was in a car crash and the centre of his face was smashed. So they rebuilt his nose, but as a cutie-pie nose, not like the bumpy nose he had before. He had a hard time dealing with his changed reflection in the mirror; he grieved for his nose. Noses are a thing people often tease about: my sibs called me "flute-snoot". Don't take it to heart. Love thyself.
These are all pretty women with aquiline noses. Doesn't change the fact that they are pretty.
Such genuinely beautiful people with beautiful noses! You know how there are "eye" or "mouth" people who focus first on those features and it greatly informs how beautiful they find a face? I'm a nose person. Noses are what I notice first, and these noses are much more my aesthetic than "normal" noses.

The smartest thing I ever did for myself was buy a new nose. After being bullied and abused for hit for my entire life, getting rid of that monstrosity on my face was the best $9000.00 I ever spent. If I had it to do again, I would't have waited that long.

It's just so bizarre, so wrong - that we live in a world where we have to alter physical parts of ourselves in order to 'fit'. How we look should never be that important. It IS - but it shouldn't be. All I could think of was the Steve Martin movie "Roxanne". He has a huge nose (it's based on Cyrano de Bergerac"s novel) and it's an issue. My favorite scene is in the local tavern where he is dared to list 20 "big nose" jokes. Absolutely hilarious.

One of the most beautiful woman on the planet, Barbara Streisand, omg I found her nose made her and the fact she never did a thing to it and could have makes me love her even more. The bridge of my nose is pretty smooth and from the front it looks totally “normal” but from the side the tip is SUPER pointy. I have a hard time accepting it although I am working on it

I think everybody hates their side view, because they never normally see it, yet everyone around them is used to it. I hate my side profile, not because I have a statuesque roman nose like these ladies, but because I have no stop to my nose, my forehead just carries on down to a non descript nose, and my chin is weak. But I'd be surprised if anyone is used to their profile, unless they're a model or a film actor.

What I get from this photo gallery, is that the Hollywood depiction of the Wicked Witch of the West has a LOT to answer for. Basically people thinking their noses are ugly or wrong, because of one depiction by Margaret Hamilton. A small bump in the middle of your nose is literally normal and not unattractive, nor is a longer point etc.

All noses above are characteristic noses. They don't need plastic surgery. And some of them better than current beauty standards. I agree that, some noses would need surgery. But don't forget, this face is "you" and it makes you different.
My nose isn't exactly pretty either..it's straight down like a ski slope and a bit pointy with a bump in the middle from when I was hit in the face with a cricket ball as a kid. I like to call it my witchy nose, plus it's the same kind of nose my grandpa had so that makes it okay.

I realize this will get a slew of downvotes and that the conventional wisdom is “Embrace your unique qualities...You’re beautiful as you are!” But instead of struggling to “accept” or “learn to like” a nose that’s caused such psychological pain, insecurity and self-consciousness why WOULDN’T someone just have rhinoplasty? Barring medical or financial reasons one couldn’t have it, there’s nothing particularly dangerous about the operation; several people I know who had it wished they’d done it sooner. Of course it doesn’t solve all one’s problems, indeed it may bring on some others, but from what I saw their self-esteem and confidence — knowing (or just feeling) their nose was no longer among the first impressions they made —was worth it. Some will say that’s shallow, vain, etc., but then why use makeup, color your hair or dress nicely? Most women want to look and feel like a million bucks. There’s nothing inherently wrong with the myriad ways one can achieve that.
Firstly, because it really should not matter. Why has society deemed a big nose is somehow less attractive? It is just an opinion. How a person looks should not be any kind of a measure of their worth. Secondly, you cannot dismiss cost. Rhinoplasty is not cheap. Thirdly, you really cannot dismiss risk! There are potential dangers with every single surgery. I have never forgotten reading about a young boy who was so bullied by his peers because his ears stuck out. He begged his parents for surgery. He didn't make it out of the operation. He died! Died because children bullied him and made him feel bad about himself for something that should never, ever have mattered. Make up, hair dye and clothes only 'gild the lily' they don't alter our physical appearance to any real degree. Yes, I know in the real world these things do matter but it bloody shouldn't. Those who bully others because of their appearance should be punished severely. It is a disgusting and cowardly act.

I'm a nose person. Noses are what I notice first, and these noses are much more my aesthetic than "normal" noses.
I am a professional portraitist and if you lived in my area, I'd beg you to pose for me.
I'd love to get a portrait done one day..just to see how it would look, especially with my nose..
Load More Replies... The smartest thing I ever did for myself was buy a new nose. After being bullied and abused for hit for my entire life, getting rid of that monstrosity on my face was the best $9000.00 I ever spent. If I had it to do again, I would't have waited that long.
Sorry you were bullied for something you couldn't help being born with. I'm glad you were able to make yourself feel better. It's just so bizarre, so wrong - that we live in a world where we have to alter physical parts of ourselves in order to 'fit'. How we look should never be that important. It IS - but it shouldn't be. I can't tell you how much I loathe people who bully. If only more was done to stop it. Downvoting you for dealing with your nose in the way you did is not much better than bullying really. Good for these women who are trying to accept themselves but you doing what you did takes nothing away from them.

I came to this blog crying, and I left with a teary smile on my face. I've got the biggest bump on my nose and I've been terribly insecure about it my whole life. Seeing all these beautiful women standing up for their nose makes me so happy and I wish that I will have that confidence some day ❤
Remember Jennifer Grey, she was in Dirty Dancing and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. SHE had rhinoplasty, now you couldn't pick her out of a crowd! Be proud of your statuesque noses, ladies!
All I could think of was the Steve Martin movie "Roxanne". He has a huge nose (it's based on Cyrano de Bergerac"s novel) and it's an issue. My favorite scene is in the local tavern where he is dared to list 20 "big nose" jokes. Absolutely hilarious.
Reducing the beauty of a person to the shape of their nose is like deciding if you like a song by just listening the the first note.
When I watch all these pictures, I really wonder what you consider as a «normal » nose. Is it a snub little Barbie doll nose you’re after ? Model toys and Walt Disney pictures have really distorted your image of what is « normal ». Anybody here thinks her eyes are to small as well ?
These noses are gorgeous! I’ve always had a thing for women with long, aquiline noses...they’re beautiful. My friends would all kid me because I was all googely about a girl at a bar because she had “The Nose”. I love them!
One of the most beautiful woman on the planet, Barbara Streisand, omg I found her nose made her and the fact she never did a thing to it and could have makes me love her even more. I think it is up to the person if they want to change their nose , some do some don't. But I don't or have I ever met a person and thought what a odd/big/flat nose they have, never.
The bridge of my nose is pretty smooth and from the front it looks totally “normal” but from the side the tip is SUPER pointy. I have a hard time accepting it although I am working on it
2 things: 1, it's 'profile',' not 'side profile.' Profile is view from the side. 2, here are all these lovely women--why are they made to feel thee's something wrong with their noses?
I think everybody hates their side view, because they never normally see it, yet everyone around them is used to it. I hate my side profile, not because I have a statuesque roman nose like these ladies, but because I have no stop to my nose, my forehead just carries on down to a non descript nose, and my chin is weak. But I'd be surprised if anyone is used to their profile, unless they're a model or a film actor.
I have to finish later. So many fabulous faces. Not everyone can look Irish. I love strong noses. Noah Wyle and Adrian Brody have the best noses. So many of these women do too.
What I get from this photo gallery, is that the Hollywood depiction of the Wicked Witch of the West has a LOT to answer for. Basically people thinking their noses are ugly or wrong, because of one depiction by Margaret Hamilton. A small bump in the middle of your nose is literally normal and not unattractive, nor is a longer point etc.
Instead of a nose bump, my nose is "round". I'm part Asian and it's like a button somehow. XD
All beautiful ladies who look like real people. Not like American TV where everyone looks so much alike you can't tell them apart. Main reason I ignore broadcast TV now. BORING!!

beauties, every single one. I've always admired and been jealous of larger noses. I have a teeny nose that I can barely breathe out of. I've often thought of getting surgery just to improve the air flow. f**k beauty standards! get you a nose that is functional. <3
All noses above are characteristic noses. They don't need plastic surgery. And some of them better than current beauty standards. I agree that, some noses would need surgery. But don't forget, this face is "you" and it makes you different.
My nose isn't exactly pretty either..it's straight down like a ski slope and a bit pointy with a bump in the middle from when I was hit in the face with a cricket ball as a kid. I like to call it my witchy nose, plus it's the same kind of nose my grandpa had so that makes it okay.
These are gorgeous noses. Being South East Asian, talking about nose is NOSEnse, I mean many of us have flat small nose that is so small and flat so when we put our glasses on, it can't stay firm :D :D :D :P
I realize this will get a slew of downvotes and that the conventional wisdom is “Embrace your unique qualities...You’re beautiful as you are!” But instead of struggling to “accept” or “learn to like” a nose that’s caused such psychological pain, insecurity and self-consciousness why WOULDN’T someone just have rhinoplasty? Barring medical or financial reasons one couldn’t have it, there’s nothing particularly dangerous about the operation; several people I know who had it wished they’d done it sooner. Of course it doesn’t solve all one’s problems, indeed it may bring on some others, but from what I saw their self-esteem and confidence — knowing (or just feeling) their nose was no longer among the first impressions they made —was worth it. Some will say that’s shallow, vain, etc., but then why use makeup, color your hair or dress nicely? Most women want to look and feel like a million bucks. There’s nothing inherently wrong with the myriad ways one can achieve that.
Firstly, because it really should not matter. Why has society deemed a big nose is somehow less attractive? It is just an opinion. How a person looks should not be any kind of a measure of their worth. Secondly, you cannot dismiss cost. Rhinoplasty is not cheap. Thirdly, you really cannot dismiss risk! There are potential dangers with every single surgery. I have never forgotten reading about a young boy who was so bullied by his peers because his ears stuck out. He begged his parents for surgery. He didn't make it out of the operation. He died! Died because children bullied him and made him feel bad about himself for something that should never, ever have mattered. Make up, hair dye and clothes only 'gild the lily' they don't alter our physical appearance to any real degree. Yes, I know in the real world these things do matter but it bloody shouldn't. Those who bully others because of their appearance should be punished severely. It is a disgusting and cowardly act.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad people are loving and accepting themselves. I just wonder if half of these women gave it a thought before they saw that this was a place to leave a gorgeous selfie.
