Hi I’m Elen, a paper artist based in Abu Dhabi. I have always been fascinated by paper. I love experimenting and exploring the endless possibilities that can be created using paper.
This 210*297 mm artwork was created to capture love, marriage, motherhood and all the emotions in between. Various paper art techniques not limiting to paper-cutting, paper-layering, quilling, paper engineering etc. have been used to create this art piece.
It showcases miniature indigo flowers set over a leaf silhouette background hand-cut from a single sheet of paper. A paper sculpture of a pregnant lady forms the centerpiece. Intricate detailing of her hair has been done with strips of paper. Her dress and facial features have been paper-cut.
The main sentiment is hand-cut and reads “It all started with a kiss”. It has been wrapped around the body. Lastly, a hand-cut gold-embossed lace frame accented with pearls is layered over the centerpiece.
