My New Girlfriend Likes To Eat Eggs, So I Designed These Egg Cups And Had Them Made In A Week.

For me, this project is exemplifying the power of rapid prototyping.

When my new girlfriend told me she liked boiled eggs for breakfast I was unprepared. I didn’t have any egg cups in my household. Sure, we could do a few days without, but I was looking for a more elegant solution.

Luckily though, I earn my breakfast as a designer so the next day, I made a few sketches, decided on a direction made a CAD model and sent it off to be 3d printed in ceramic. They arrived a few days later and have been in heavy use since.

The result are these egg cups I called “Poly”.

Now I have tweaked the model for large scale manufacturing and am getting ready to bring them to market.
