Yes she was brave but it is ridiculous that she had to be that brave. If you want to get rid of most “non-medically necessary” abortions then our society needs to make men responsible for their bodies as well. You don’t hear about men going to prison for murder if a baby is aborted- because it has nothing to do with valuing human life and everything to do with controlling women. If a man creates a life then he should be held legally liable to support that life until the child is 18. If he skips out he should be charged with child abandonment, abuse and neglect and it should be on his record forever.Even if it is in her womb – because “Life is precious and starts at conception.” If he doesn’t comply- he should be thrown in prison. Behind most women desperate enough to consider abortion is a careless man who isn’t stepping up. Get rid of those men and you will have less abortion. It takes 2 people to make a baby- make both people responsible for the life they created. Period.
The lesson of this video is: Religion is cancer. Without it, she would have gotten proper sex education, she wouldn't have been looked down upon and called a sinner for having sex.

I hesitated scrolling down to these comments, positive that there would be a lot of sugary “blessings” and inane comments about bravery when my reaction was anger! Anger at the selfish boy, the “religious” restrictions of education and abortion. It’s reassuring that my anger as a senior is echoed by so many younger people. Maybe we’re growing up and understanding fairness. Up to now fairness has been spotty at best for young women.
What a bunch of b******t. This makes being a teen single mom look like nothing more than a bit of social awkwardness. It doesn't address the minimum wage job she had to take to try to support the child, the problems of affordable daycare, not to mention not being able to go to college. It does not in fact do anything but support the pro life cause.",,Hey 17 and pregnant, don't worry, it will get easier". No it doesn't.

Having a baby in high school doesn't necessarily end your life or your future. It may limit it somewhat though. It's hard to go forward and not just stay in one spot when you have little ones. Good luck to you and your son. I hope you can find a way forward and make a better life for yourself and you child.
"My boyfriend got me pregnant"... yeah cause she wasn't there at the time too. I totally understand there's a lot of dumbass jerk guys that run off on women, pull some s**t stuff, con and manipulate. But that didn't happen in this story, they're BOTH responsible here. Phrasing is everything people.

Boyfriend needed to be permanently sterilized for inflicting that on her. Start holding both sides accountable and see how fast things change then.

Every young person should be educated to know how to protect themselves from unwanted pregnancies and STIs, regardless of gender. And any decent parent would make sure that their son took responsibility for his part in getting someone else pregnant, whether she decides to keep the baby or not. We put too much emphasis on whose body the pregnancy ends up in, instead of whose bodies made the pregnancy in the first place.
I wish for a world where every child is wanted and planned, by both parents.
This is bull. I was just like her... could be I even know her. I also grew up in a religious school, was sheltered, small place etc. At 17, you know where babies come from. You don't need sex ed to tell you that. There's no way that no one told her, especially if they're as religious as she claims. Besides that, if you know enough to be having sex, you're not *that* innocent. A "proper" Sex Ed wouldn't have made a difference - they would've done it anyway. Fact is, the class WAS there, they COULD have taken it. Clearly, it wasn't that important. I knew other couples exactly like this and they were so proud of what they were doing. They enjoyed being badass and rebelling. Yeah, it's great until s**t hits the fan. This happens to dozens of teens every single day. It's really a case of "Popular Teen Gets Pregnant, Gets Disillusioned With Harsh Reality, Reaps What She Sows." No sympathy. You can't use religion to front your own ignorance.
Here's a hot take: Not everyone's experiences are universal? You don't know how it even happened. Perhaps she was coerced into sex as many young girls tend to be? You don't know, and you never will know, so stop being so judgmental. It is IMPORTANT to have sex ed taught in schools.
