In Ferrouj Attitude, photographer Oussama Benbila takes the ferrouj (rooster in Moroccan) out of his farm and souk, and invites this special animal in the studio. What has initially started as a portrait shoot of roosters transformed into a discovery of their tough, yet amusing character.
Whether used as a zodiac sign or considered as a sacred creature, the rooster is present in many cultures. It is a universal symbol of bravery. In Morocco, it is associated with generosity and sunrise. Roosters are proud animals who show their strength through a firm walk and behavior, but we tend to overlook their beauty, which is why the photographer put them in the spotlight and created this series of ferrouj portraits.
