The United States has very few real castles; however, there are plenty of enormous mansions that look just as royal. One of them, which has recently been built in Billings, Montana, has many castle-like amenities such as a turret, a drawbridge, and a moat. Even though it looks impressive from the outside, the inside of the house is where the magic happens.

While the mansion features castle-like circular stairs, it also has a much more modern way of commuting between its five floors—a circular elevator.

Share on FacebookThis doesn't count as a 'castle' Its just another modern building with a synthetic stone veneer. If I'm going to shell out $14 million, I want a real masonry building with a slate roof, the kind of thing intended to last for thousands of years. What castle doesn't have an armory?! or a forge for the armorer, or stables, or a granary, or a barracks for one's footsoldiers?
What a gaudy nightmare. It looks like Bass Pro, a castle, and a hotel designer had an unholy child.
Is this to overlook the peasants of Ironwood? And why does it not have a moat? Castles have them, that is what the drawbridge is for. How will you keep Montanians from approaching your walls?
The towers are poorly situated, only offering a narrow window of defensive fire from the archers. Nearly the whole rear of the castle is indefensible from the ramparts.

One of the great underlying tragedies of this "castle" is that many (if not all) of the subcontractors were not paid for their work and went out of business. The person that did build this as a temple to his ego is a felon and ruined many lives in the process of attempting to construct this place. If it is to sell, there are many people whose liens may be paid - a small relief for this community. However so much damage has been done. I wish there was some way for the sale of this place to benefit others. https://billingsgazette.com/news/local/man-behind-massive-billings-mansion-in-federal-custody-after-apparently-staging-his-own-abduction/article_bf34f3a1-154b-55aa-b5d3-9711668b27f4.html
Looks like a resort to me, and it would be a better investment as one :/
It looks like a 19th century mental hospital. You might be able to make it into a small hotel or retirement home. ...///... The decor is butt ugly. Sort of like Jasper Park Lodge vomited.
Did I read correctly? Someone built it and they hope someone will buy it? For $14 million I'd want a bunch of input on how it was built. I don't imagine I'll ever have to worry about it though.
This isn't a castle, it doesn't have a Beauty and the Beast sized library. No mansion/castle is complete without a gigantic library. What is this atrocity? Who builds a giant house without a library?! Ugh, it's digusting, really. People are monsters.
So many of those rooms are way too big to be practical. Why would I need to stand 10 feel away from my wife in the morning when we're brushing our teeth? I'm thinking this might have been built for tourists, maybe they'll make it into a lodge of some sort. Seems a bit ridiculous for one family.
You wouldn't. You'd only have to stand 6 feet away while brushing your teeth. You're welcome.

It's pretty but not my taste , I would like to roam around or live a couple days but never wanna own it. Into modern houses and architecture. Like a condo. Nevver did liked mansion
Even if I had enough money to spare: I would prefer a smaller home with view over the ocean instead of this strange bad made "fake castle" monstrosity. That thing is so oversized that can assume there are constantly some maintenance work needed at some end of that thing throughout the whole year. I do not need 19 bathrooms to boast for some snob aquaintances and I don't want to need a map to navigate through some maze
Everything yet they only have one washer and dryer??? If I have a house like that, I refuse to wait to do multiple loads. AT LEAST 2 washers and dryers. Maybe 3 dryers. But then, they probably have housekeepers doing the laundry or just wear their clothes once and then throw them away.
Becca! You're famous!!! Holy c**p! I was so taken away by this and then BAM! Your name! How amazing! Congratulations 🥳😍
Really wish BP allowed access to high res images of their posted pics.
I can't help it. I know, if I could afford to buy the house, then it stands to reason that I'd be hiring out the housekeeping; but I still look at these monster houses and my first thought is that it must be a pain in the butt to vacuum a beast like that.
Meanwhile in Europe you can buy a real castle for less than a million, instead of an ugly overpriced soulless McCastle.
The fact that this exists, and is not by a long shot the only one of similar size and opulence, speaks volumes of the trouble with the world today.
The USA doesn't have castles because it was never a feudal society. That being said, we have plenty of ostentatious manor homes built by various old-school millionaires (Vanderbilt, DuPont; Busch, Winchester, etc.). Not defending their estates but at least weren't as tacky as this attempt at "high society".
