I was lucky enough to walk along a beach every few days on my way to a student´s house. I would always pass along the sand and pick up any nice shells I saw. Over a few weeks I had quite a few including bits of coral, when I had the idea to make a jewelry box for my wife´s birthday.

I bought the mdf box pre-made, along with some felt for the lining. I base coated the box when I realized I hadn´t decided on a colour for the box. In the end I took some sand from the beach and PVA glued it on. I then cut and glued the lining in and underneath, be patient here. Then proceeded to glue the shells in random places, emphasizing the coral on top . I especially like the way its opened with one of shells on the front.

Cover the hinge space with a few shells to help hide it.
