I love to pay clay and fortunately, I live in Porcelain Capital!
I was born in Jingdezhen in November, 1990. When I was a little girl, I didn’t realize that I lived in ‘Porcelain Capital’ and I didn’t know it’s been producing porcelain for 1700 years, older than everyone living in this city. And I don’t find it strange that even streetlights, garbage cans are all made of porcelain. Not until after I went to college did I realize that my hometown is world famous for its history of making porcelain. Then, I started to see the city I lived for twenty years from a different perspective.
I found that there are many small workshop where I can make porcelain on my own with instructors’ help, fire it in a kiln and take it home. I enjoyed the process of touching the clay and making it into different shape.
Last summer, I went to Yaoli, an ancient town in Jingdezhen with my family. It looked just like a typical ancient Chinese town with peaceful atmosphere, bridges that are older than me, and small river with clear water.
Jingdezhen lies in northeastern Jiangxi Province. I was so happy during travel that then I went to Lushan. After a year of hard work, i took this trip as my reward. And it’s so worth it. The lofty mountains, fresh air brought me peace in a real sense.
