I Photographed 11 Naked Women At Sergels Torg To Celebrate Women And Our Bodies!
This is a collaboration between the photographer and social entrepreneur, Felicia Margineanu and the artist Pernilla Pramberg. Both wanted to do something to challenge society’s beauty ideals that often sexually objectify women. They decided to do a photo exhibition where women of different ages, origins, sizes and shapes would be represented. They went out on social media and asked who wanted to join this project and challenge the image of the female body, and also strip down naked in the middle of Sergels Torg in Stockholm.
It took two days to receive the models necessary for the project. The models were both friends and unknown women who approached them. Many wrote to tell why they wanted to join and thought it was important to not only love yourself, but also to do the project together with other women. One of the models was a pregnant woman who was carrying her first child, a girl. She said that she wants to show her daughter that you should be proud of your body and dare to be yourself in this world. Two other models were a mother and daughter with a big smile standing next to each other. Another woman said proudly, “We have to respect our bodies. We give birth with it, we feed with it and we make love with it. Why shouldn’t we love ourselves!?”
Today we are living in a society where we communicate through photos. Equality is a global human right and women are represented all over in the world. The photographs that are exposed in this exhibition are most important due to the digital and global communication era. All of us need to own the discussion about the importance behind the photograph and reflect on what values and triggers that appears within ourselves. The goal is to inspire women all over the world to be proud of the body that they own. The goal is to challenge the establishment with women in all shapes and forms.
