I Disassemble Broken Products And Make Stop Motion Stories Out Of The Parts
Every Friday I pick a random product on instagram, I take it apart, check what’s inside there then reassemble it back in a different way! I make funny stop motion stories and characters out of the parts!
This is simply how Tinker Fridays began! I love disassembling products to learn more about how they work, how all the pieces come together, it’s like a puzzle to me! It all started with just exploring the inside of products then I started rearranging the pieces into new lil creatures! Sometimes it takes me a day to finish my animated story, sometimes it takes up to 6 or 7 days.
I have been doing this for about 8 months now and made over 20 videos. I start every Friday without knowing what the outcome would be, I learn many new things every single week and I enjoy sharing my project with everyone! I let my instagram followers name the lil creatures that I make and they sort of shape the characters and complete my stories. Their comments and name suggestions are always very funny and super creative!
Most of the products you see are old broken products that were about to be thrown away. I collect some, recently, friends, family, and IG followers started donating their products as well!
We consume too many things to the point that we forgot the amount of work that was put into bringing even the tiniest pieces of things! I think we rarely see what’s inside each product thus treat it as one whole part and maybe this makes it easier to throw away stuff; one thing goes to waste, and not many. But there are many things inside, and many opportunities.
