My name is Derek Scholte, I am a visual artist from the Netherlands. My universe is not a happy-go-lucky-my-little-pony-rainbow world.
My primary theme is the wish of mankind to escape its dreary existance with a hope of great adventures. The inhabitants in my Dystopian world create contraptions, machines and vehicles. The freedom of the open road is their goal.
All of my artworks are created with 99% old, vintage, and antique materials. I love old stuff with a patina from years of use. Things and objects with a previous life, a soul. The imperfections add to their beauty.
