Guy Gets Accused Of ‘Catfishing’ And Banned From Tinder After This Girl Reported His Profile Pic

Our beloved Baby Yoda from The Mandalorian is a real heartbreaker and Tinder account wrecker. So if you want a happy love life, stay away from Baby Yoda! That’s the lesson that 21-year-old Chicago comedian Carter Hambley learned after a very weird encounter on the dating app.

Carter got reported for catfishing and was banned from Tinder just because he photoshopped Baby Yoda into his profile pic. Somebody couldn’t take a joke and blamed the comedian for something that he obviously didn’t want to do.

In case you didn’t know, catfishing is when somebody creates a fake online persona in order to lure you into a relationship or take advantage of you in some other way. In this case, Carter wasn’t catfishing because you can see him and his honest to God love of Star Wars in his photo.

More info: Twitter | Instagram

Meet Carter. He had a ridiculous encounter on Tinder that ended up with him getting banned for a hilarious reason

Catfishing is all about lying about who you are, what you do, what you like, and what you look like, all for the sake of some unethical goal. Some scammers do this in order to lure money out of people’s pockets. While others like to build online relationships and create the illusion that they’re romantically involved with someone, even though they’ve never met in real life.

If you want to know if you’re being catfished on dating sites or on social media, the golden rule is this: if you think it’s too good to be true, it probably is. But if you want to make darn sure, then you can try verifying the mysterious stranger’s identity.

Suggest video chatting or calling them. And if you’re feeling particularly brave, offer to meet them in person (just remember to stick to crowded places and to let your friends know where and when you’re going out).

Chances are, a catfish will use every excuse in the book to wriggle their way out of any contact where their ‘perfect’ online persona could shatter. Meanwhile, Carter was completely upfront about what he looks like and that he likes Baby Yoda. He’s the opposite of a catfish—he’s a dogwhale if you will (and if that’s not a thing, it totally should be!).

Here’s how people reacted to Carter’s story. Some of them even had similar tales to tell

So the people on Tinder didn't do a double check? They just banned a profile because someone falsely reported it?

What do you think their customer "service" exists off? They get loads of these and just randomly block people. Glad to be ok enough to not have to had use it.... The good old days of ICQ and using it with someone you know from work ;)

Michał Jastrzębski, c'mon, you're usually more intelligent than this. Maybe humour is not your forte? Good lord, I can picture your daughter/daughter-in-law telling your grandkids "Yes, Gramps is very annoying, but he's 97 years old, his jokes are not going to get better with age."

This does not surprise me at all. Most apps use bots to do the banning and complaints are never reviewed by a human. I got banned from Twitter when I was reported for making terrorist threats. During an exchange with a good friend on Twitter, he threatened to slightly loosen all of the caps on my markers so they would dry out (I am a graphic designer and I am obsessed with my markers and no one is allowed to touch them or use them or borrow them or even look at them) and retaliated by saying that one day he was going to come home and find his dog wearing a Christmas sweater (dogs in clothes annoy him). Someone reported my comment about putting a sweater on his dog as a terrorist threat and I am now banned from Twitter for the rest of my life. I even appealed the ruling by Twitter and was told that the comment was enough to make someone feel threatened enough to report it so I can never come back to Twitter.

You have to be a complete idiot to report something like this as catfishing. I have never used Tinder and now I have a good reason not to. I might get banned because someone I am talking to is stupid. Also to Michal Jastrzebski, you can't put all women in the same category as this moronic woman.

So he has a (very obviously photoshopped) picture of a non-existent creature (and very obviously not a plushy toy) and claims he's babysitting it, she complains about the plushy toy not being real? OK makes sense. In some galaxy, far from this one.

Maybe all the banned people should create their own dating app and date amongst themselves. It can be a "banned from major dating apps for no reason dating app". They seem like nice people and don't need the tomfoolery that seems to come with some of these mainstream apps.

There probably is one. Major social platforms are becoming more corporate and banning the freethinkers to preserve their pristine images, and so there are many companies wanting to fill the gap.

Their customer service must be one person per 12 hour shift, who lets complaints stack up the entire shift and then blocks every account the complaint is about en masse right before clocking out.
