My Drawings Combine A Love For The Supernatural With My Slavic Heritage
My name is Sandra aka Macy Butters and I illustrate Slavic gods and goddesses who will serve you and bring you a sip of that divine power you need in your life and your home.
As a young girl I remember my father drawing me animals: funny looking mice, elephants and a few failed attempts of portraying me. From then on I began to practice drawing. I used to draw for hours and hours, and spent so much paper that at one point I remember I was happier if my father or grandfather bought me drawing paper instead of chocolate. Thanks to my ever growing vivid imagination I created a world of my own.
This imaginary planet not only had an atmosphere but also a stratosphere, I drew maps of it and naturally I inhabited my world with amazingly interesting characters. We all had different superpowers, drove space rockets or futuristic motorbikes, had mind reading powers, could manipulate fire, water and other elements, and together we protected our planet from demons and bad spirits.
I combined my love for the fantasy and the supernatural with the culture and heritage of my country and its Slavic roots. I have always been fascinated with the strengths of different gods, so I took Slavic gods and started to draw them along with their main characteristics. Since I love applied arts I put my illustrations on mugs and wrote Slovenian folk songs to show the gods’ thoughts. It took me around 40 hours to develop each of my early characters Vesna, Kresnik and Živa, whereas others are still in the making.

KRESNIK – the Slavic God of Fire
His powers: He is fire, light and the Sun itself with hair and arms of gold. He was revered as a great warrior because his victories brought fertility to farming. He is considered to be one of the greatest authentic Slovene deities.

Her powers: Živa is considered to be the ruler of all that is sacred. She is the goddess of life, love and fertility. With wheat ears in her hand she symbolizes sowing and harvest. She was also the bearer of health and long life.
