Girlfriends Share What Their Home Looks Like Compared To Their Boyfriend’s And It’s A Nightmare

You can’t expect everyone to be as tidy as you are. Sooner or later, you’ll come to a friend’s or colleague’s home and notice that other people have a whole different standard for cleanliness… or perhaps a standard for messiness, in some cases.

A bit of a trend in the vein of exposing messy boyfriends has started arising on TikTok lately. A TikToker by the nickname madelynkrueger recently shared a video where she compared the level of tidiness in her home to that of her boyfriend, after which a number of other ladies did the same.

Needless to say, one apartment was clean, the other—oof. We’ll let you see for yourself which one’s which and how big this oof really is.

This TikToker was recently invited to stay the night at her boyfriend’s house, which left her surprised

So, TikTok user madelynkrueger shared a video showing just how clean her place is and how contrary to that her boyfriend’s place is. It starts off with the caption “when it’s your turn to stay at his place” and a view of a tidy bedroom that belongs to Madelyn as she waves good-bye. She then flicks the switch to turn off the light and transitions to the flat of her boyfriend.

She arrived to find a bit of a mess in her boyfriend’s apartment, “a bit” being an understatement

Everything from the floors to the shower and toilet all seem like they haven’t seen a mop and sponge in months

She arrives to find her boyfriend’s apartment, which is not all that good when it comes to hygiene: dirty floors that haven’t seen a mop in months, bathroom water residue and grime in the shower, toilet, and sink, unrecycled empty bottles, and the like.

Now, if you’re invited to stay the night at your significant other’s place, it’s normal to expect to see the place cleaned up, not only because it’s hygienic and the right thing to do, but also because it shows respect for the guests. But nope, the guy in the video is seen just chilling on the bed with his laptop, seemingly not bothered by the mess.

So, she decided to make a video showing the contrast in tidiness and it became a trend on TikTok

After madelynkrueger’s video was posted on TikTok, a number of other women did the same thing

This video launched a slight her place vs. his place trend on TikTok. A number of other women, like achendricks, naturally-natalieeng, karibethconant, katiedragoo, and madisonmercog, to name a few, made videos of how messy their boyfriends are.

And for the most part, these were even messier: shaved hair around the sink, open toothpaste tubes, unwashed towels, garbage strewn about on the floor. The list goes on and on.

It seemed like others were trying to one-up the original by also showing near-empty fridges, wet towels, etc

Madelyn’s video soon went viral, garnering over 3.5 million views with over 301,200 likes, 30,000 shares and 11,000 comments.

People online had a lot of questions: namely, how is this even possible and why are they even dating? For some, it was important to point out that it does go both ways as they have met some untidy women in their lives and could do a similar comparison the other way around.

Yet another woman made an analogous video with her boyfriend’s place that looks like it has no garbage can

Others also noted that this is probably someone in their high-school or college years. They explained that it is common among students to be this messy as a sense of cleanliness often develops (hopefully) at a later time.

Many have said that the right thing to do would be to tell them to clean up and to keep it that way because it may become a toxic element of their relationship later on. Either that, or never date them at all.

Not only was the inside something shocking, but also the yard outside—there’s that trash can!

Hopefully the guy got out of that toxic relationship. Shaming him like that...only gonna get worse. Find someone who treats you with respect. Goes both ways

The guy needs to clean up his house and his habits, but yeah public shaming and "can you believe this slob" are not helpful.

My concern is that these guys dating girls so they will clean up after them, make them food and generally serve their every whim. Why else would a guy bring over his girl and show her such an alarming mess? If he actually cared about her or their relationship, they'd at least TRY to clean some of it up. So ya the lack of effort is a big red flag. To the ladies of these boys: start as you wish to continue. You are not his maid, you are his equal, his partner and work is shared. If he tries to treat you like an object, leave, he does not deserve you and you will be happier living with dignity and not as someone's personal maid.

I not perfect either. I have my disaster weeks, where I just don't do anything. BUT if I know someone is potentially coming over. I clean and get it into a presentable state. I do find, the more I like someone, the better I do on my cleaning job. So these guys clearly don't give two flying Fs about themselves, their home or their girlfriends. The ladies, going by their bedrooms, have got their s**t together, they need a man who cares enough about himself and her to clean his s**t up.
