That last comment was my thought. I get tired of people making false accusations, especially when they get the police involved, and there are no charges filed against the people that make false reports. Start punishing these people when it's obvious they are trying to use CPS and the cops for revenge rather than protection.
I think you already can but it's rarely ever obvious/provable to a standard that will get a conviction. People in these sitution have the same problem in court as people that have suffered sexual assault, a lack of evidence that can prove what they're saying is true.

I was beaten up regulary and abused since early childhood (my mother was working nightshifts and didn't know). I was considered "a clumsy kid" due to all the blue and black marks, the twisted and broken bones I had, because I "fell down stairs or ran into doors". When I tried to tell someone, even my mother (I was six and scared) I was told I am wrong and should not talk bad of grown ups. My father was told and threatened to kill me if I ever "snitched" again. When I read about someone WRONGLY accusing, to gain some upper hand or blackmail, it really gets to me. I want to tell them that they make it difficult for victims to speak out and getting help. And to tell them how fortunate they are, to have nice people around them who would never hurt them. I still have misshapen fingers and toes from when they were broken and I did not get medical treatment because doctors/hospitals began to doubt something was wrong. I am so glad, the guy here dodged the bullet.
