Environmental Art – Huge Sleeping Troll Girl 3d Wall Mural & Alarm Clock With Wind Chimes
I am Finnish Artist Mauri Kosonen. I made this Environmental Art Piece/ 3 dimensional Wall Mural, “Mountain Maiden”. It is a 50 metres/ 164 feet tall, 15 metres/ 49 feet high wall painting of sleeping troll girl & alarm clock with wind chimes to wake her up. The total area is 1000 m2/ 0.25 Acres area is located in Turku, Finland. I finished the project August 2015.

The main view when you come to the place. The perspective is very tricky. The legs are 31 metres/ 102 feet long.
BEFORE
This is the entrance of a tunnel how it was before.
A magic moment of light happened.

The feet and fingernails are painted on top of rock. Also landscaped the rock with moss.

The wall contains sculptural rocky elements.It’s painted on top of concrete and steel. Tricky to get same shades on both of the materials, with totally different paints!
The steel surface was not a straight plate but made of a U shaped plate. Painted it with a crane. The arm is about 2 metres/ 6.6 feet thick.
The face. Nose is 2,6 metres/ 8.5 feet long.The left hand is painted on a bunch of rocks.
The door is about 2.5 metres/8.2 feet high. This is a part of the left arm. The door is steel plate and concrete on both edges. Also a ladder on the right in case you missed it!
The total area limited to the painting surfaces, excluding the forest is 1000 m2/ 0.25 acres.
Before Alarm-Clock-i-zation
This was the basis for the alarm clock.
The Alarm Clock. A sleeping troll needs her alarm clock of course. With sweet mellow sounding aluminium wind chimes that make bell voices on a windy day. The clock also has some other stuff on it. Let me know if you figure it out!
