Elevating Line Art To A Whole New Level With The Tiga Project

Sketching is a daily passion for me as I create a constant stream of surrealistic images for both clients and myself, as I try and push the limits of my imagination with just an art line pen.

Drawing almost exclusively in black (with the odd swash of red here and there) on white paper, has at times, seemingly limited the visual impact of my drawings, and I felt perhaps there was a simple and elegant way to enhance my work. As a lover of paper and prolific user of sketchbooks, a timely opportunity came about to join forces and collaborate with two Kuala Lumpur based artists – Vince Low and Peisy Ting – on an unique project that brought together each of our art into a new range of sketchbooks and notebooks.

We called the project tiga – which means three in Malay – and joined forces early in 2015 to create a sketchbook series that would not only have each of our own cover design’s, but also include eight individual pieces of our art on a different coloured paper which we felt matched the sentiment of each drawing to the particular paper colour it was printed on. Working with the Favini paper mill of Italy, this gave us access to a wide selection of beautiful premium paper – from the cover to the blank inlay – adding to the overall high quality production of the sketchbook as well as perfectly complimenting the art.
