Internet Trolls Attack Dwyane Wade’s Son For Wearing A Crop Top And Fake Nails, He Steps In To Defend Him
Children should not become the targets of people’s hate just because they wear something others might not like. Unfortunately, some internet users are like a dog with a bone—they won’t let go because they have a need to share their angry comments with the world and don’t care who gets hurt in the process.
Internet haters criticized NBA star Dwyane Wade and his actress wife Gabrielle Union-Wade’s 12-year-old son Zion for wearing a crop top and fake nails in the family’s Thanksgiving photo.
As a papa-bear should, Dwyane stepped in to defend his son, hit back at the internet trolls, and exclaimed that the entire family will continue to “support each other with pride, love, and a smile.”

The internet hate began to flow when Zion’s stepmom, Gabrielle, posted a Thanksgiving photo of the whole family, including Zion’s baby sister Kaavia James. Some of the critics attacked Zion, while others had a go at Gabrielle, criticizing her role as a stepmother.
Basketball player Dwyane called out the internet trolls for their “stupidity” and “hate,” pointing out that he is the head of his family, not them.

In an interview with Variety, Dwyane talked about supporting his son and about how Zion attended a pride parade in Miami last spring.
“I think as a family, we should support each other. That’s our job. And my job as a father is to facilitate their lives and to support them and be behind them in whatever they want to do,” basketball star Dwyane told Variety.
“I’m asked a question about my kids a lot from a sports perspective. I think people expect you to parent each kid the same. They are all different, and I have to get to know them and where they are. I have to say to most parents, get to know your kids. Don’t put your wants and needs on them.”
Other internet users rushed to Dwyane and his son’s defense

How ignorant and small-minded do you have to be to put down a kid because they don't fit with your pathetic (and often religious) gender/sexual norms... based on nothing more than a shirt and some nails? Thank goodness for that loving dad.
I agree. I find it sad how many people don't have anything else to do than criticizing other people's lives like that. They should really get some help and learn that people are different and like different things (something that most preschoolers already know) and learn to accept that. Hat's off to Zion for being himself and to his dad for supporting him

Zion wearing a crop top or long nails does not effect anyone else’s life and has parents already, he doesn’t need the whole world deciding what’s best for him. He is obviously comfortable in himself to look and how he acts with amazing supportive parents. My 5yo son has a pink lunchbox that he was excited about because of the dog picture but kids have laughed at it so now he wants a different lunch box. Why ruin something that isn’t hurting anyone.
My son has long hair and is obsessed with glitter! He won't cut his hair. Who am I to mess with that strong sense of identity. I completely believe he should find and discover himself. People are absolutely beautiful when true and confident in themselves. One should absolutely encourage and support any person who is honest with themselves.
Load More Replies...Food for thought: Interesting to note how freaked out people are at a male showing an inch of skin.... yet as a society, dressing little girls in mini skirts, yoga pants, crop tops, short-shorts, & 'makeup' (flavoured, tinted lip gloss isn't targeted towards boys) is 100% ok. Even in 2019, sexualisation of *girls* ok, but a any kind of self-decoration, or an inch of skin on a boy is soooooo shocking. Double-standards much?
Honestly if he feels happy wearing that LET HIM!!! It's not up to you it's up to him and no matter how young he is if he wants fake nails and isn't an infant who cares?!
The most ironic part is "leading kids to destruction". Only to destruction by you judgemental, bigoted a******s! You're the problem!
I just don't understand how this person's son dressing a certain way affects them personally at all. Like, are his killer nails ruining your relationship? Stealing from you? Causing you physical harm? If you see something that you "don't like" just keep scrolling, why take the time to spread hate? And I mean, I freaking WISH I was as stylish as his son, all of these pics of him are a-m-a-z-i-n-g.
People having vapors about the boy's crop top clearly didn't live through the 70s! It was something jocks and movie star heart throbs did! As for the nails, so what? It could be the next big thing for guys and this kid's a trendsetter! Love your kids for who they are -- and stop criticizing other parents loving THEIR kids for who they are.
I'm just always baffled how other people think they have ANY right to comment on someone else's child. Mind your own business....if it's not harming YOU in any way, then it's NONE of your business
Good grief!! T his is 2019 not 1919!! Have we learned nothing over the last 100 years? Let people be who they want to be! We let little girls play with trucks and boys with dolls so this kid is old enough to know whether they want to wear nails or not. Just leave people to their lives. Who are you to come in and try to bring people down? Didn't y'alls mama's teach y'all to treat others how you want to be treated?
Although I'm all for supporting your kids and accepting as they come..I wouldn't even let my daughter wear some of those things. Those jeans were ripped way to high. Get the kid some decent girl threads...not something that looks as if the child had an accident with a combine....
I'm against anyone being sexualized. It's not necessary. I can understand being in next to nothing if you are in an extremely hot environment. But having your butt hanging out or your tits flashing everyone is not fashion..it's a cry for attention.

That's his wife? Thought it was a teen girl, and wondered why the caption gave the names of only 2 kids, but he has 3 in the pic.
Ok aside from the point his nails are frickin sick and that color compliments so his skin tone perfectly
Then you'll be happy to know that Zion is now Zaya. From one gender to the other.
Load More Replies...As Bob Dylan said "The times they are a'changing". Embrace this new world. The kids are the face of the future and the future looks amazing! These kids don't look down on people who are different..They accept them. One day different will be normal. And on that day everyone in the world will love every one and there will be so much less hate and bigotry. Doesn't that sound amazing? I know it feels all fairy dust and rainbows, but that's better than how I would describe right now...
Dwane, you are an AWESOME DAD! You let your children be what they want a be who they feel comfortable with. What the h×ll is wrong wth that? Way to go dad. I'm proud of you.
Looks like a happy, confident, sweet family. What kind of jerk criticizes that?
What a lovely family. Zion has such a beautiful, joyous smile. I pray they can retain that feeling in this harsh, biased world. Who is this hurting? It might be helping other, less aware families, find their way.
His nails are on point. Yh some would say it's extra and too much but yknow what is he happy yh.
Why do people fuss over this kids clothes!? Who cares man. Let him discover himself. People are such a******s. We've all been kids. It's all part of getting to know yourself! No matter your colour might I add! The fact that he is black is irrelevant. Why point that out?
Bonita (beautiful name btw) don't listen to some people on here. They haven't lived long enough to find their happiness in life yet and the only thing that makes them happy is to try to bring others down. You seem to have a wonderful spirit.
Load More Replies...I have immense respect for Dwayne Wade's parenting philosophy, and it looks like he's raising a very happy child. WELL DONE SIR!
people just pissed that that little boy has better style than they do.
Trolls can't even spell correctly- too many non-consequential people with opinions of others. Look in the mirror. Worry about your own. Much respect to those who care more about the well being of their children than what sheep speak.
Why you do you give a damn what anybody else does if it's not hurting you or others? There's plenty out there to be concerned about other than a boy who wants to wear nails.
