Teenage Girl From Wuhan Shares How Dramatically Her Life Was Changed During The Coronavirus Outbreak
After the first person contracted the novel coronavirus at the beginning of December, a local Chinese doctor named Li Wenliang started raising alarms about the virus. However, the doctor was detained by authorities and accused of spreading rumors. A month later, Chinese authorities identified the novel coronavirus. By the end of January, Wuhan, which was confirmed to be the source of the virus, was put under lockdown. Movement was restricted in and out of the city. Panic started to set in.
Recently, someone translated a Chinese girl’s plea for help, which she posted on a Chinese social media platform called Weibo. Titled the “Diary of a girl in Wuhan”, the translated social media posts detail her experiences following the quarantine of the city’s 60 million residents. (Facebook cover image: James Watkins)

After her heartbreaking posts gained traction, many people began offering help. The girl was also contacted by local journalists. A couple of days ago, her friend made an update saying that she is being treated in the hospital.

So scary and sad. . If you put in perspective that the doctor trying to warn people of the sickness was sent to jail and forced to sign confession. It took one month for the locals authorities to admit what he saw immediately. All could have been avoided. . So many people life destroyed for the sake of the "Country Stability". .
Yes the doctor who first reported the Coronovirus in China was silenced and died recently.

This is so scary and sad at the same time. It makes my heart hurt. I hope she pulled through.
Not to make light of this but this read felt like a horror movie. My best wishes goes out to her. Jeez...this is just horrible.
It read like a horror movie because it is truly horrific. Several horror movies were based on actual, mortifying situations.
Load More Replies...This is absolutely heartbreaking and one of my worst fears. As a mother imagining a situation like this, I don't know what terrifies me more, the thought of watching my children die or knowing I'm dying and about to leave them all alone. I hope this poor girl survives and eventually finds peace.
Coronavirus is more lethal (higher mortality rate) than influenza; there is no vaccine which can even ameliorate symptoms (as with flu); people in the US die of flu and die even when in middle age due to lousy medical care (this year's flu just put my otherwise healthy 45-year-old neighbor in ICU with complications!); and the Chinese gov't would rather people die than admit they aren't in control of, yes, even a viral outbreak. And coronavirus is, in humans, noted for its attacks on respiratory systems ---- MERS, SARS ---- so it's perfectly believable a family could all die within a brief period of time. Use rubbing alcohol minimum 70%; hot water and soap, 30 seconds, washing hands; wear masks to prevent YOUR spreading germs; wipe down every surface before and after touching; and do not assume you'll be okay b/c you're not in a "risk category". PSA over. Stay safe, and if you travel internationally, do NOT go without gloves, masks, and potent sanitizer.

You loose someone you love to a disease but you are thrown into a panic again because another person you care about is also showing symptoms. Next thing you know, you're grieving two people. Awful.
So terrible that I can't even imagine it. I lost my mom a year ago from lung failure and it destroyed me. I can't imagine both parents being gone so quickly , and from a damn virus . I hope she lives
It reminds me of the 17th century plague epidemic in Europe. It is strange how history repeats itself. I keep my fingers crossed for all the good people in China and I believe that soon everything will turn good.
I think you might be referring to the 14th century? The bubonic plague?
Load More Replies...this is heartbreaking. in december this all started then china found out and thought it was a good idea to HIDE IT. they didnt tell anyone about it until The UN found out in canada now that they didnt tell anyone we are behind on it and we are paying the price
Really? I don't see any picture of anyone in this article. Face of the 'tweeter' has been wiped out

In one month, maybe less, this will be the US. Good thing we got rid of our pandemic response team and slashed the funding for the Centers for Disease Control.
hay fever is a real thing and not something to joke about

Even though they knew she was infected and in contact with her family? 2) Her mom died, a couple of days after they found out she is sick. Her father also died after a couple of days. So basically 2 out of 2 cases almost instant death. That does not reflects the real picture. 3) Her mother died, her father is sick, but she is not yet quarantened? She just casually visits the hospital, seriously? Nobody puts her into quaranteen? 4) Somebody posted somewhere a post about some girl. What kind of a source is that? What do you think? I think this is a fake.
There's no place for conspiracy theorist on this post. Take your lunatic rantings elsewhere.....
Load More Replies...i think what you're not taking into consideration here is that you just read translated text. you can't interpreted translations between any languages as individual word choices of the original author, let alone a translation from chinese to english. simplified chinese ⇆ english is tremendously flawed, no matter what tool you're using for translation. copy and paste a few paragraphs from a trendy blog or something into google translate. translate it to chinese, then back again to english. try that a few more times, and watch as it changes every single time. translations are often void of the nuances and emotions that we as a society innately begin to associate with certain words, so you are right in identifying the english words we read were cold and true heartbreak seemed absent. but if i were to revise the english text to read that way in a genuine tone, if it were then translated back to chinese, it would read equally as cold as the passages above seem to us.
