Out of all types of cringe-worthy material, the "badass guy/girl" trope is one of the worst. Some people really feel the need to let the world know how much of a badass they are as they use guns/drugs/have tattoos/are anti-liberal or are just plain mean. However, such attempts at bad-assery are usually cringe-worthy rather than cool to all those around such people. Here, we made a list of all the laughable attempts at trying to appear cool and edgy. (1) It isn't the flag, it's the ANV battle standard, but most Americans, including Southerners who claim it as a symbol of pride don't even know it's history (idiots) (2) I prefer the term "traitors" to losers (3) the ANV battle standard was used as a symbol by the segregationists and KKK in the South during the Civil Rights Movement to oppose integration. It is actually more strongly associated with efforts to oppose integration and to terrorize blacks than it is with any national sense of unity among the Confederacy at the time of the Civil War. Any other interpretation is revisionist.

Slavery was a big reason for the war, and I can see why people would be upset, but some people fly that flag because their ancestors fought in the war and they want to show respect to them. I am a daughter of the Confederacy and Union. This does not make me racist. I don't care what color your skin is, just like I don't want people to care about mine.

The Confederate flag stands does not stand for racism. It is what the South fought with during the Civil War. The country was divided because of the issue at hand - slavery. However, as everyone knows it all worked out and we are no longer divided. The people who fought with the South also gave their lives for the country we live in today and because of that they deserve the same respect we give to all of our American soldiers. That’s what it means when they say history lesson. We need to look deeper into the meaning of things. Not everything is about racism, hate, or homophobia...

She loved the shirt and giggled when I informed her I didn't wear it on purpose, it was just the closet thing in my dresser drawer.
