You may wonder, why read them, then? It’s for the same reason we watch horror movies with covered eyes. Getting to know some creepy stuff about the world is hard, but not knowing it is even worse.

After the Pulse night club shooting, when the cops were investigating, you'd think it was pretty quiet in there.
It was actually a cacophony of ringing cell phones. So many friends and loved ones calling people they knew were there, hoping they'll answer the phone and say they're ok...
Before you die, your last words could be, "I don't feel so good."
I was a paramedic for 15 years and heard dozens of people's final words. The phrase I heard most often, possibly from half to three quarters of them, were some form of "I don't feel so good." I've also heard, "Wait, somethings wrong." "Somethings happening." "I don't feel right." "Wait, somethings wrong." "It's happening." "Oh no, Oh no."
People feel the blood leaving their brain I think. Must be like a rush.
I remember listening to a few 911 calls on youtube when people said these words when they died...those gave me gooosebumps..
Many pets die because their owner dies unexpectedly and nobody comes to check on them in time.
that is why I have a stickie note app on my phone with work address, supervisor, closest person's phone number, and "I have a cat at home that needs some TLC if something happens to me" at the end of it.
Oh, that's so smart. I'm glad I have a lot of people in my house. As of right now, it wouldn't happen.

Due to lockdown, nobody could come to help and it was so heartbreaking.
My sister's business finds homes for pets after their owners pass! Paw and Feather Company LLC! She can house and/or take in dogs, cats, and/or birds.
Dude. Ok. I'm getting one of those cards that says "pets at home. Please check." For my wallet.
My worst fear living alone with 2 small kids. I swear, it's a scary though. Tried to teach 5 years old kid if mama sleeps and don't wake up no matter what, he should bang with wood toy at main door and scream for help, he got so scared, worried and confused that I think I traumatized the kid.
If you have neighbors near enough to hear him, it may have been better to contact them and ask if they would please check on your kids if they don't hear you for a day.

I know a case like this. It wasn't unheard of if you didn't hear about this person for a long time, so no one suspected a thing. Eventually his neighbours complained about a smell and police went in. It's estimated that he died around christmas and wasn't found until March. The apartment was full of dog poo and other waste, the smell was horrendous. Poor pup died starving and alone.
Oh god I'm gonna start crying in the middle of a zoom call thanks bp
You can get a card which you carry with you and it states that your pet is alone and has contact numbers on for someone to ring.
Thats why i keep a note in my wallet, next to my organ doner i.d., that tells people that i have pets, who need care.
My cat would probably get out through the cat flap, but I have no confidence that she would survive by hunting.
Even worse families dump cats and dogs on the street or to kill shelters.
and use the sticky note app on your phone home page too

There are keychain clips and cards for your wallet that say, "Check on my pet" or something to the effect, for just this reason.
This is in my wallet (I'm in France) Feel free to modify and use. PetEmergen...7a-png.jpg
Not very many. Most of the time they eat their owner out of desperation.
I heard so many people in NYC say that on 9/11 they couldn't get home to their pets. So since then, I leave the toilet lids up so at least they'll have enough water till me or someone else rescues them.
or in my uncle's case die on the same day and around the same time sad story actually
damn this hit. when my cousin died her dog died and that was our best friend
Cats and dogs will eat you if you die in your house with your pet around. They'll do it because there's no one to feed them and because their carnivore's. I'm not sure about rodents or reptiles, but possibly.
We adopted two cats who had been left alone with their dead human for about 2 weeks. One of them loved to gnaw on my fingers...
Yet another reason to try and participate in your local community. Wave through windows to people. Smile and say hello. You don't have to be best friends, but if something seems wrong or different, like someone's bird suddenly stops calling or is calling a lot more than usual, or someone you normally see in their window isn't there, you can try to check on them. Knock on their door, ask neighbours, call the police.
Thanks for pointing that out. Guess it’s my fault for reading the article. 😐
You’re not the only one to get the creeps from scrolling through this post. There’s something about being creeped out that is both chilling and yet impossible to resist. But what exactly is this creepy feeling we all get? It surely can’t be graveyards, clowns, spiders, or horror movies themselves.
Frank McAndrew, a professor of psychology at Knox College in Illinois, has been studying this sensation and made a conclusion after surveying more than 1,300 people that “Creepy is about the uncertainty of threat.”
There is a whale called 52 Blue that only sings at a frequency of 52 Hertz, meaning it can't communicate with other whales. It is nicknamed the "loneliest whale on the planet."
The inspiration for the song "Whalien 52". The artists described themselves as the lonely whale in their earlier years because no one seems to hear them and listen to their songs. "Lonely lonely lonely whale Like this, try calling once again Until this song that doesn’t have a response Reaches tomorrow"
On Mt. Everest, you have the rainbow valley, the last zone to climb to reach the peak. Which sounds cute but it's really the colorful jackets of dead climbers who are frozen in time against the white harsh snow.
Also, when close to the peak, the oxygen levels are so low that the body is starting to die. You only have a few minutes to reach the top.
My teacher told this to my class when I was in 5th grade (10 years) and I still remember me going home and crying for all those who died on their way.
More specifically, Frank said, “You’re feeling uneasy because you think there might be something to worry about here, but the signals are not clear enough to warrant your doing some sort of desperate, life-saving kind of thing.” Thus, it’s different from having a fear of something or revulsion.
According to Smithsonian Magazine, when you’re creeped out, your brain and your body are telling you that something is not quite right and you’d better pay attention because it might hurt you. We become more alert and ready to strike whenever the threat turns out to be real.
During the French Revolution, where the guillotine was introduced, the people to be executed fought to be first, as the blade would dull after multiple uses and wouldn't cut a head clean off at the first attempt.
There’s something called “Anaesthesia Awareness” where of certain people go into surgery and they don’t give you enough Anaesthesia, it will look like you’re asleep (eyes closed, not talking or moving), but the patient can still hear and feel everything that’s happening, but here’s the scary part. You’re unable to move, speak or open your eyes. Unless they have a monitor to show your brain activity, you’re stuck with having to endure the pain.
i have read of people waking up in the middle of operations suffering pain but unable to let someone know. Apparently if they notice things like pulse and heart rates will indicate something is wrong
Being the oldest person alive means that every single human being who was alive at the day you were born has now died.
Another thought is - the exact moment you were born, you were the youngest person alive.
When whales reach a certain age they will eventually be to weak to swim back to the surface for air. So they will just suffocate to death and eventually sink to the bottom of the ocean.
But at least when they sink to the bottom of the ocean their bodies will create sprawling ecosystems that will last for a good few years.:)
Most sitcom laugh tracks were recorded in the 1950s, so you’ve probably been listening to dead people laughing.
A professor at my lecture today said that deer will lay on decaying corpses because they produce heat and the deer like that. Basically deer treat corpses as their personal sauna.
In the event of a water landing, flight attendants are specifically required to not allow dead bodies on the life rafts. No saving your dead parent/child/spouse for burial. Yeet that b*tch overboard.
On airplanes they turn off the lights before takeoff and landing basically in anticipation of the plane crashing.
Your eyes take time to adjust to the dark, so if the plane were to crash your eyes would be pre-adjusted, thus increasing your likelihood of being able to make it out.
They also ask that window blinds be opened in order to allow anyone outside to be able to see in in order to check for survivors.
The dolphin which most often portrayed Flipper on the 1960s television show Flipper committed suicide.
Kathy was the dolphin who most often played Flipper, and she committed suicide. This happens due to depression. In this case, it was crippling captivity. In another case, it was being separated from a researcher with whom the dolphin developed a strong bond. More on that story here: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2014/jun/08/the-dolphin-who-loved-me
Humans have enough bite power to bite off their finger. Bone and all. The only thing stopping us is our brain's natural safety factor.
It is way easier than you would expect to break someone ribs during CPR and it feels really weird. POPPOPPOPPOP like bubble wrap.
Didn't need to compare it to bubble wrap. I will never think of popping those bubbles the same way again.
The astronauts of space shuttle Challenger didn't die until the spacecraft hit the ocean. They fell through the air for almost 3 minutes.
No way to confirm this as true; I worked 29 Shuttle launches. It is more likely they were killed or unconscious from the explosion, or killed from lack of oxygen or G-force. It is almost certain, but no way to verify, that they probably were dead or completely unconscious immediately after the explosion.
Judith Barsi was the young actress who voiced Anne-Marie in All Dogs Go to Heaven and Ducky in The Land Before Time. She was murdered at the age of 10 by her abusive father, who also killed her mother at the same time. Judith's gravestone displays Ducky's catchphrase, "Yep! Yep! Yep!"
Fatal familial insomnia is a thing. It's a rare, incurable prionic brain disease that progressively destroys your brain’s ability to sleep. Eventually, you stop sleeping altogether, go insane, have seizures, and die.
Aaannd, that is what will pop up in my head when I’m trying to sleep tonight
There's been multiple cases of people actually ending up being eaten by an escalator.
There are only three states in the USA that have outlawed child marriage: New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania.
Your lips are made of the same skin type and texture as your anus.
The song “Baby Shark” is actually the perfect rhythm to guide infant CPR.
If you electrocute someone while they are submerged in water, it won’t leave burn marks.
In Formula 1, safety belts were not mandatory until 1972.
Before then, drivers believed it better to be ejected in a crash, and either die instantly from a broken neck or suffer many broken bones.
The alternative, they thought, was to be trapped and essentially cremated alive should the gas tanks ignite.
Niki Lauda Was famous for surviving bad crash. He nearly was burned to death in his car. he survived to continue his racing career and becomes World Champion. His racing goggles literally melted to his face and most of his ears where burned off. The fact that he only missed less than 2 months of his racing season tells the story of huis fortitude and pain endurance.
There's a zombie fungus that basically enslaves ants for its own benefit until it kills them.
That's pretty scary, the ant literally has a mushroom growing out of its head, like a "cute" little hat. The possessed ant will try to go back to its colony so that the fungi can infect more with its spores. It's like a zombie ant-pocalypse.
There is a parasite called Dracun culiasis, or more commonly "Guinea worm" that can enter your leg through drinking infected water. You won't notice anything until ~1 year later, when a small portion breaks the skin to release larvae. At this point, it's a meter long.
A. Meter. Long.
And it has to be extracted centimeter by disgusting centimeter.
NTDs are the stuff of nightmares.
Not morbid but unnerving, at any time without any warning you can die of a brain aneurysm and there is litterally nothing you can really do about it. Anyone can have one.
You can die from pooping too hard.

i am traumatized now.... some were interesting, other were damn disturbing..
To be fair...pigs scream about nearly everything in their lives. If you have to hold them so they can have a necessary medical procedure done, they scream. If you have to move them into a new enclosure, they scream. It's just what they do when they don't like things. You can pick up a baby piglet and it will scream like you're trying to do it the most awful harm in the world.
Load More Replies...Some absolutely dreadful facts. I need to look for a funny post or cute animals to get over these!
What kinda person reads this morbid stuff? I mean besides me. I'm sceptical about quite a bit of it though. However I'm to lazy to research the ones I doubt.
Hey did you know that once, someone sued Mtn. Dew for finding a rat in their soda and they took them to court. Mtn. Dews' rebuttal said that was impossible because the rat would dissolve after a few months. They proved it and won. THIS IS WHY YOU DONT DRINK MTN DEW!!!
Fun fact: female rabbits will think they’re pregnant every year. Why? Because rabbits are literal sex machines. Also, they make nests from their own fur and fur from other rabbits just pulling it out anxiously and running to the nest and make it more comfortable. Even if they’re in a group with females only they’ll do it.
Some of these I already was familiar with and some of these I have to question how they found out
That everest one madre my stomach feel sick for a good hour :( Most of these are so sad
Don't worry, it's their own fault when they climb Everest.
