Artist Edd Lai is on a mission to bring some light into our lives and he's creating dark comics to do so. Mixing the real with the surreal, the 29-year-old from Taiwan is creating horror stories that are quite short yet totally immersive. And it's not just the Internet who's in love with Edd's dark drawings.
"I have always enjoyed reading," Edd told Bored Panda. "And I like all kinds of books, including graphic novels. But it wasn’t until I was 19 that I started writing creepy stories. I was lucky to have my novels published by several publishers that were searching for young writers. Since then, I’ve made writing my living, constantly pursuing this profession. I was also commissioned to write several screenplays for movies."

"My greatest passion lies in graphic arts — I enjoy telling scary stories not only through words, but through pictures as well," the artist said. According to Edd, adding visuals allows him to portray his feelings and plot twists way better."
"[Currently], I'm working on my new experimental series, titled Edd Lai's Stories."
To someone who isn't familiar with his horror comics, Edd would describe it as 'horrifying' but in a 'bright and delightful' way. "[Through my comics], I try to explore the different facades of humanity, highlighting our perception of the world." Both the good and evil. The hero and the villain. "We tend to label everything we know, but there's often a difference between the way a thing looks, and the way it is underneath its appearance."
Edd thinks it's the tone of his stories that make them stand out from the rest. "My stories might appear to be dark, but they can be delightful or even cute. The pieces I've written for Edd Lai's Stories are short, [but they have] a sudden twist at the end, which makes them super dramatic." The artist said he wants the readers to participate in his stories, filling in the gaps. "I love when my readers ask me a lot of questions about my stories. Also, since the stories are so sharp, they're good candidates for movie and other kinds of adaptations."
And even though the artist admitted he has a dark place in his heart, he doesn't let it control his personal life. "The most important thing is that we can always choose to light up the night."
American parents. Too protective. Kids are not allowed to go to school alone, playgrounds are boring, because they are too safe....there is a ton more.
I feel the same about cats in the US... they are curious animals who want to explore, yet US Americans insist that they are indoor pets only, one stated reason being that it would be too dangerous. I'd rather have my cat happy and mentally healthy than confined... Btw I heard that that one study did a bad job at differentiating between strays, strict outdoor cats (barn cats), indoor/outdoor cats and strict indoor cats when assessing life expectancy. Of course outdoor cats are much more likely to die young if you include the first two with the third category...

Freaky&creepy but oh so enjoyable...Can I sleep with the light on too please?
Very creepy but the wording was a little off sometimes. You way need an English speaker to proof read.
The drawings are great but the jokes aren't very funny some don't even make sense to me. They seem to be missing some context. My favorite one tho was about the guy who spoiled movies fro fun, indeed very relatable!
Not all of them are supposed to be funny. Just a plot twist, no one said anything about a FUNNY plot twist.
