I mean, must EVERY post turn into an America-bashing session? We get it, you guys do not like most things about the US. It is just getting a bit old.

Dynein, I don't think that all cats are cats who want to stay outside and explore. I have friends who say that their cats, despite having free range, never want to go outside. My cat included, she's an indoor cat and is perfectly fine and happy staying inside. I do agree that cats who want to go outside should be able to, but they also should be able to come back inside to a loving home who feeds them, as many families keep their cats outdoors and have them rely on hunting or little food, even when the cats want to go inside.

Cats allowed outside without a bell collar/supervision are a HUGE problem for killing birds.

I live in suburbia and judging by the large amount of roadkill cats in my area, I think I'm gonna keep mine inside. The male hates the outdoors anyways. He was a rehabbed feral and won't even go near an open door. I think he is scared the outside will somehow come in and grab him.

@Aria Whitaker: Sorry. I get your annoyance, but the thing is, the internet is largely US Americans, so people from somewhere else tend to get US culture stuffed in their face every day, and sometimes there's a significant culture clash. I generally try to be mindful, but I read a LOT of posts lately about that indoor vs outdoor cats - didn't search for them, just came across them. And I identify with the cats more than the owners, so it's been really bothering me, and this comic represents my sentiment pretty accurately. Been seriously considering researching the issue more and maybe writing about that here. I feel the wildlife issue isn't that clear cut (@Johnny Frostbite, a lot of species are struggling, not just specifically cat-prey-sized ones), but again, I'm planning to research that. Right now I just feel very emotional about it and this comic brought that to the surface.

@The Random Merp, please note that I differentiated between indoor/outdoor and outdoor cats, and pointed out that strict outdoor cats of course would have a lower life expectancy - I'm all for letting a cat live indoors! But I've read comments of people who keep cats strictly indoors even if thy used to get to go outdoors, even if they show distress. That's what's upsetting me.
